Don’t want to dampen that stat because modric is an absolute rolls Royce of a player, but Croatia only came into existence in 1992 so not much history to go off there.

Modric is an absolute class act. He runs virtually every game he plays in.

Class player - can remember the goal he scored against us for Spurs at the Turf vividly, outstanding.

That goal last night was thing of total beauty. The kind of goal that makes me feel sorry for people who don't like football !

Yes, top quality player. And shows you don't need to be some huge unit doing 100m in 10 seconds to play in the middle of the park.

Last time I saw him live he was losing to a Brian Laws team, up against an ancient Graham Alexander and a young Jack Cork. He was the best player on the pitch though to be fair.

It's certainly been some career. It'll be a sad day when Gail Platt leaves the cobbles...

He’d have walked into the former Yugoslavia team. Did they or do any of the other former Yugoslavia countries have anyone who can match the stat ? I doubt it.

He would i agree. I have no idea about the Yugoslavia stat although they did have some great players. It isn't taking anything away from him though because Modric is a classy player.

The 'former Yugoslavia' had some great players especially in the position he plays in. He would have complemented them, of that there is no doubt, but I don't think he'd have 'walked into the team. He would have had to be at the top of his game. Always enjoyed watching Yugoslavia, often just their temperament that let them down.

Modric strolled through that game last night, and what a finish for the crucial 2nd goal, mind you it did help that Scotland gave him plenty of space and time, do that against quality players like him and there'll only be one result.

He might be 35 now, but as they say class is permanent, and he's definitely got class,

This has got me thinking of the potential Yugoslavia team if it still existed.

Jan Oblak,

Nikola Milenković
Stefan Savić
Dejan Lovren
Joško Gvardiol

Mateo Kovačić
Luka Modrić
Sergej Milinković-Savić

Ivan Perišić
Edin Džeko
Luka Jović

Some team that.

I watched many 0 0 at Wembley v Yugoslavia
Lots of talented players back then but often very low scoring games very tight defensives

22 goals shared in 7 home games against Yugoslavia - so not a bad goals / game ratio, and NO 0-0s.
