His dad knew how to hit a ball, scored some stunners.

To be honest, I'd never heard of him (Thomas not Laurent) but just seen this which was more than speculation, reported that he's on his way for two weeks.

His dad was a cracking player at Newcastle, hope he impresses during his trial with us.

Once happened with opposition in an international between Scotland and Wales with James (Jim) Leighton and Leighton James.

Was anybody else reading his surname as Robert until the last sentence before realising?

When I saw it initially I just assumed he was Scottish then saw he was French and then who his dad is.

So it's Robair not Robert.
Definitely need someone for that role, and someone of quality. Let's hope Thomas fits the bill.
I should expect even if we sign him he'll need 6 months to settle into the club, but hopefully signing for the bench and not the U23s.

Will always be problems now and I really don't know how the points system actually works. But the club will know about it so I would assume we wouldn't be offering trials to players we aren't able to sign.

As soon as I saw that he was French I thought of his dad and how to pronounce it that way before reading that was his dad.

I know John Collins ( the scotsman) played for Fulham, and later they also had a Collins John ( dutch I think ) not sure they were ever in the same squad though.

A quick search shows they played 1 year apart, 200-2003 & 2004-2006 respectively.
not sure if John collins was still at the club in a coaching role though

Thst could have got very confusing

Remember that one - when Collins John arrived a lot thought they'd just got the name the wrong way round.

It’s a shame Edgar Davids never ended his career with us instead of Barnet

His uncle, Bertrand, was also a pro. but didn't really live up to his promise.

All three of them started at Montpellier although Laurent and Bertrand were both born on Réunion Island in the Indian Ocean.
