Billy Gilmour has joined Norwich on loan. What a brilliant signing for them, wish he was heading our way!

Definitely could be a talent.

Not completely convinced he'll have that big an impact at Norwich though. A lot of the hype around him seems based on a cup game against a second string Liverpool side and a performance against England the other night, that whilst decent, was certainly well over egged afterwards.

He may do well for them but I'm not exactly feeling we've missed out here.

I’m sure he’s going to become a talented player but I’m not sure anyone can suggest at this time that he’s going to be a brilliant loan signing.

He’s won 4 man of matches in something like 11 games. Big talent and should have a very good season.

However, he is still very young and he will be expected to start every single game.

Would like him at Burnley on loan just not sure he would fit into our tactics.

Think he's there to get plenty of game time and learn the basics of battling hard and working without the ball, then back to Chelsea a far better player.

He won't get game time at Chelsea and that's exactly reason they are letting him go out. Not for one minute do I not think he's got a talent but it's a big ask for a young kid to go out on loan and become a brilliant signing.

Super talented lad.

We haven't got a midfielder who could run the game against Liverpool or England and get man of the match. These performances were in his first start for his respective teams as well.

The only doubt would be if Dyche would want us to change the way we play, to play through the central midfield area more to accomadate him.

No, the doubt is whether the lad can deal with a full season of football. He has very limited experience.

Totally agree, it's Chelsea,s way of making him or breaking him, did the same with Mason Mount.

Loftus Cheek has been pretty unlucky. He looked a real player under Sarri, got a bad injury in a post season game in USA and hasn't been the same player since. Certainly seemed to struggle badly at Fulham last season

Just the kind of player we need to sign whether on loan or permanent if he turns out half as good as Mount he will be a brilliant signing for Norwich.

He will be the equivalent of our first loan of Jack Cork.
He turned out ok!

I think a few are underrating his talent here. We'll see, he is very young granted, but whenever I've watched him for Chelsea he looks potentially world class. He never loses the ball, always in a position to receive it, looks forward not just sideway, and for a young (and small) lad he has great presence.

No one is underrating his talent at all, just expressing that he's a young player with very little experience.

If we were to express an interest in a loan player i'd be very, very surprised. I'd only pay it some heed if it came direct from SD's mouth.... anything other than that and it's trouble brewing.

We just don't do loans, and i don't see that changing anytime soon. And with our recent track record with them, i'd doubt if a top 6 club will allow one to come here. Having said all that, i'd sooner SD be our manager and not ask for or get loan players in than have another manager who would.

Gilmour looks like he can go on to good things, but he's far from the finished article and there's still a chance (however small) that he won't make it at all at this level. All the risk here is Norwich's.

You only get experience if you start games, and he is more likely to do that at Norwich

Would have liked to see Conor Gallagher at Burnley but SD clearly has a preference for the opposite of age and experience

Will be interesting to see if Collins makes the starting eleven on the opening day of the season - pretty sure Gilmour will

I wish we had got him on loan, even at his young age he is better than any of our current midfielders.

Why would Collins make the starting eleven if James Tarkowski is still our player?

A lot of people seem to think he is more than capable of playing RB ?

As for JT - that's a big "if" - just hope your/my wish comes true

Gilmour has looked a good player when I've seen him play but I think i've seen him play twice, I don't think he was incredible against England like some are making out though.

Very good player, but being a bit part player in a very good team will be a million miles away to what he is about to experience...nevertheless hope he does well.

The performance against England was definitely over-egged. You would have thought it was the best midfield performance of the tournament if you’d listened to the media.

One thing is for sure it is very different getting an odd few minutes for a Chelsea team that is often already in control of a game compared to being the main man in midfield for a newly promoted team at such a young age. We shall see would be my thoughts.

My thinking being that presumably he's been brought in to play, and if it turns out he doesn't quite take to playing in the PL week in, week out, it may cost them another relegation.

Chelsea will learn about whether he can step up regularly and be their 'Foden'.

I presume Gilmour will be their replacement for Oliver Skipp, who was excellent for them last season on loan from Spurs.

Gilmour looks to be in the same mould, but perhaps a level above. Good signing for them.
