I know Alan Pace has a Twitter account and spoke so much about communication but he doesn't communicate much does he? Everything is really silent and sneaky.
I think that gives off a far better image than a football chairman going on twitter about the out goings of general staff within his football club.

He introduced him self, and now is busy going out business of replacing staff within the club and will be working on getting deals done for players.

Some fans really so think they’re more important than they actually are. It’s been pathetic over the past few days with posters whinging because they are not giving every scran of information.

I can’t comment on all the departures by any means, but what I can say is that some of the people that have departed most certainly deserved to lose their jobs.

Why say your going to communicate if your not?

Similar to when he said Dyche would be backed in January and then again at the start of the summer window.

Agreed. Think the mix up maybe some thinking that by communicating he would respond to every daft question asked of him on twitter.

Do you really expect a chairman of a football club to post on twitter saying a bloke that worked in the media side of the club no longer works here?

It’s pretty dissimilar on so many levels. If players weren’t available in January for the right money, why spend for the sake of it? Then there’s still time left in the summer transfer window.

New owners have come in. They are making changes to best structure the club to best support their business plans. Nothing more/less is going on.

Whilst not officially communicated it is believed that a few of the more prominent names associated with the club have either left or are in the process of leaving their roles. There have been a number of roles advertised publically to so we can see where recruitment is taking place and getting a bit of an insight into where the club is looking to invest.

I'm not sure what business it is of ours, as fans, to have any knowledge of the coming and goings of operational staff who predominantly are behind the scenes to support the running of the club and why we should expect the club to communicate on every facet of the running of the club just because someone thinks on here that its their right to know.

You have to consider that IF people are being affected by the changes at the club, whether it be redundancy, contracts not renewed etc - there are people involved with this and outside HR laws/general privacy and confidentiality considerations; these individuals who may come to expect, or may not want, their careers being discussed in public etc.

What amount of daily contact would you like? Hourly? What exactly do you want him to communicate at the moment?

You do understand there are legal procedures to go through when getting rid of staff or making redundancies.

Controversial in your eyes and always to suit your constant negative narrative.

I would say controversial in many fans eyes given the reaction on social media to things such as the supporters clubs, going cashless, the total lack of transfer dealings. I think nearly every fan would like a response to them items rather than him tweeting about radio 1 being near the site.

It’s also worth noting that the daily mail sports writer even tweeted last night that he is concerned with the direction the club is heading

To be fair people did go a bit overboard at first around how great Pace was with his communication with the fans and his Twitter and Youtube stuff, using it as a stick to beat the bogeyman Garlick.

Naturally on a messageboard like this you'll get a bit of backlash when others have gone a bit OTT on something and reality sets in and not much has changed (yet!!!)

I don't think I'm entitled to know every piece of information, Bentley has worked at Burnley for a while, he doesn't deserve the decency of a written statement informing fans he's left his role?

I think the supporters clubs were certainly worthy of communication about the potential bulldozing of something they kindly paid for and they looked nice too. For a community club, it's a poor do imo.

I'd have liked more open dialogue on the takeover finances too rather than sit and squirm while avoiding the questions but I understand i'm not entitled to that.

One thing I found in business is that sometimes staff can become set in their ways and a change of mentality is required. The owners will I’m sure have looked at staff roles and their attitude towards the work they do. Let’s take give them the opportunity to run things how they believe their business should be run, they can then be judged.

Fair point Beddie but a lot of these guys have seen the club’s turnover rise from a minuscule amount in the Championship days so they must be doing something right. Plus they have only had a few months in the midst of a pandemic to show what they can do. Do you think that is long enough for the likes of Pepper & Bentley to show they can adapt and change?

Agree with Ian
Darren deserves a thread of his own

I liked him a lot and he always stopped to chat for a few minutes especially at away games

I thought he was a good interviewer and he seemed to always be the one to interview SD post match

He helped me out a couple of times with ticket/claret player issues

Will really miss his cheerful face at Burnley matches

All the best Darren

Hope to see you again one of these days

Best of Luck

Mike

As others have said, what some view as controversial will entirely pass the majority by.

Most don't really care about the technical director or the media team or whatever. Social media hugely amplifies the concerns of a small minority.

It's pretty rare for businesses to announce departures, I'm not surprised that the Chairman didn't comment on this.

I don't see what the issue is, unless I'm missing something.

When a company takes over a business there is a transitional period, during which some of the old regime don't like the new one, so leave.
Not really a big deal, as long as the right people are hired to replace, if required.
People complain about the communication being poor, meaning it needed someone, or something different to run it. There were times when Darren Bentley posted on social media news that turned out to be false - not that that is his fault, although shows the old system was flawed.

Maybe he quit... I can't imagine a company would send a message out about that... where would you even start with saying it?

I believe he sent handwritten letters to all season ticket holders updating them on the current situation with Kane. This has caused much annoyance amongst the fans who used to be regular season ticket holders but decided not to buy one for this season for a variety of irrelevant reasons.

Thank You Darren Bentley

I live in America. When we played Aberdeen at home somebody emailed me to say that the match day prog contained a photo that I was on. Needless to say I wanted to get a copy of it for my collection But sadly they were sold out and I could not find one for sale anywhere. My last resort was to email Darren Bentley. He emailed back immediately to say there Was not a single copy available at the club. Obvious I had offered to buy the prog and pay for delivery to America. He just said let me see what I can do. Within a week I had my prog delivered free of charge I believe it was his personal copy. Now that’s what I call going above and beyond the call of duty. Thanks again Darren and all the very best for the future
