Is this with a view that Loughlan will return once fully recovered from the surgery?

Wasn’t there some sort of issue with Stone whilst he was working with the under 23s?

Two seasons ago. He resumed his under-23 duties last summer.djemba-djemba wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 3:29 pmWasn’t there some sort of issue with Stone whilst he was working with the under 23s?

This could be a bigger blow than we realise.
I was once at the top table of a sportsman’s dinner with the goalkeeper Mark Crossley and he was telling me that Loughlan is, as he put it “the brains” in our back room team.

I don't know about that but he'll certainly be missed. Was Roy Keane's assistant at Sunderland and Ipswich and has worked with Dyche since he took over at Watford,arise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 3:40 pmThis could be a bigger blow than we realise.

Good luck with his op.
What were results like when he had time off for his first operation? Stone took over then didn't he?

It must have been early 2019/20 because Stone came in late 2018 to replace Duff with the u23sQuickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 4:00 pmGood luck with his op.

Re: ARTICLE: Stone becomes first team coach as Michael Jackson steps in
Did you hear what the problems were? I was told some information but I’m not sure how accurate it was. I assume some form of internal process was followed and everything was ok now he’s back working for the club.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 3:33 pmTwo seasons ago. Re: ARTICLE: Stone becomes first team coach as Michael Jackson steps in
Must be duff information. Just seen him leading the warm up on the pre season video.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 4:29 pmAnd that will be a blow. He was Allardyce's man at Bolton, Newcastle and Blackburn. Dyche brought him in almost immediately.

Seems to be the theme running through Umbro’s clubs this year. Similiar at Huddersfield and Derby from what I’ve seen.

I wonder whether Farrell never getting the top job (U23) is his choice or the clubs. Seems to have been at the club for years now.

Faz came in around 2006 or 2007 to work with Terry Pashley. He moved permanently to u23s when Michael Jolley was in charge.FeedTheArf wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 7:50 pmI wonder whether Farrell never getting the top job (U23) is his choice or the clubs. Seems to have been at the club for years now.

One of the nicest , most genuine people in Academy Football is Faz , never heard anyone have a bad word for him.
He's been involved at the Academy since around 2002 coaching various age groups till offered FT job, even turned down the potential role of Academy manager at another club to remain at BFC.

I met Faz not long after he’d signed for us in 1987 and know him well. He’s a sarcastic sod but you are so right about him being such a good, genuine bloke. I’ve a lot of time for him.Andingle wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 9:38 pmOne of the nicest , most genuine people in Academy Football is Faz , never heard anyone have a bad word for him.

There's even a picture of him at St George's Park!
Re: ARTICLE: Stone becomes first team coach as Michael Jackson steps in
Hard to believe he is leaving because he needs a hip replacement unless his hips are so cream crackered at 51 that he is unable to come back as a coach. The purpose of joint replacement is to get the person to a better level of fitness than before the operation.
He still has a living to make; why can he not carry on as a coach unless his was/is a very get involved role?

Re: ARTICLE: Stone becomes first team coach as Michael Jackson steps in
You'd have thought if he was the 'brains of the operation' then we'd be temporarily moving him to an opposition analyst role that could be done remotely until he was fit enough to return to full coaching duties.

Let's hope, for Mr Loughlan, it is a case of Hip, Hip and Hooray!
Speedy recovery. Back on the grass.

On official site it says Michael Jackson is in temporary charge of the under 23s ...is that because they want to appoint somebody new or is indeed loughlan coming back and stone will be back with u23s .

Re: ARTICLE: Stone becomes first team coach as Michael Jackson steps in
Which is what it says at the link at the top of this thread. Dyche has subsequently said they will need to make an appointment for the u23s. I suspect Jackson is a likely candidate.mill hill claret wrote: ↑Tue Jul 13, 2021 6:28 pmOn official site it says Michael Jackson is in temporary charge of the under 23s ...is that because they want to appoint somebody new or is indeed loughlan coming back and stone will be back with u23s .
