UEFA Fine England £26,000
For the laser pen incident on Kasper Schmeichel, fans booing the Danish national anthem and fireworks being set off in the stadium. (BBC)
Re: UEFA Fine England £26,000
Done in a few days, yet when other countries fans are racist ect it takes months if at all to fine them, I'm shocked they didn't try to kick us out and promote Denmark to the final

Re: UEFA Fine England £26,000
All three things I completely oppose, but for me, only the first and last things mentioned should be punishable.
Better checks should’ve taken place on the way into the ground and laser pens, more often than not, are small, hard metal objects, which could easily feel like a small penknife on a routine search.
Fireworks in grounds, just no.
On the notion of fining because of booing, that’s just ridiculous. It is disrespectful, yes, but in my opinion it’s far less disrespectful then a player audibly abusing a referee without punishment, or players going around spitting, despite being told not to during a pandemic.

Uefa take control of the stadium for their tournaments don't they?
Hence why the Germans couldn't put up the multicoloured LGBT stuff.
Are they fining themselves for failing to ensure fans were checked for these sorts of items?

Totally agree I wouldn't boo the anthem myself, but to fine England because some fans choose to boo the Danish anthem is a dangerous precedent for me.jdrobbo wrote: ↑Sat Jul 10, 2021 3:00 pmAll three things I completely oppose, but for me, only the first and last things mentioned should be punishable.

Completely agree on the fireworks & laser pen incidents though, neither have a place in a football ground.
I'm glad someone else has noticed the constant abuse of the officials by all teams, and as for the spitting it's totally unnecessary, there was a game where one of the players was spitting within the opening 90 seconds of the KO, surely he can't need to clear his throat that early in the proceedings, I suspect this is just another of these annoying habits that players do without even thinking, just like diving and moaning to the officials over every decision which goes against them, even when it's obvious the officials are correct.

Don't think it's a precedent tiger.
Sure i read somewhere that England have previously been fined £4,300 for fans booing, although I don't know which game it was.
Re: UEFA Fine England £26,000
I must say that I really don't understand what fans are hoping to achieve by booing the opposing teams national anthem? If I was a player of the opposing team it would just make me try even harder to play well and win the game.

If you aren’t already trying your hardest when representing your country in a major tournament, especially the latter stages, then you probably shouldn’t be in the team.

Re: UEFA Fine England £26,000
Didn’t notice any booing at all for their anthem ? Thought the very short boo chorus was for something different just before ? Either way it lasted a matter of seconds into their anthem . In all fairness the only anthem ever booed is Germany’s ,but that’s pantomime stuff and not racist /hatred etc . As for the laser would have presumed they’d got the culprit by now ? Appalling really

Wait till UEFA find out we've made the Italian team fly into Luton. Reckon they could kick us out the competition

Don't really understand the booing unless it's a rivalry like with Germany. It's always just a bit of drama/tongue in cheek stuff anyway. A bit like booing opposing players. Pantomime like. It adds to the spectical.
Re: UEFA Fine England £26,000
Is that so! Damn and there's me thinking that having home advantage tomorrow would be a big advantage! But obviously not.

There’s always some that want to spoil things. They’re like sheep, one starts the others (feel obliged) to follow. As for the laser incident, identify that person and fine them a third of the £26k and ban them from future games.
