If you were to drive to an away game in your car what organising does this take ? Also if it rains for you on that day does it not rain for everyone else ?
You obviously have never driven to an away game in the Premier league.

Parking at all Premier league grounds is a nightmare unless you are prepared to pay silly money for parking and don't care how long it takes to get home.

I get has much pleasure planning the trip as I actually do taking it

Correct, I go on the train. I get far more pleasure having a beer with my mates on the train than trying to find a parking space

We used to go on the train but got fed up of all the drunk people with their m8s having a p**s up 🙄

Only joking ... I tend to drive down to Watford Junction (cheap 24hr secure parking) for London matches then go in on the train (or tube depending which ground) easy getting away from Watford early evening straight onto M1 ....

Better than the Walsall fan who booked a hotel 11mile from Pompeys ground only to find when he got there it was on the Isle of Wight :D

As others have pointed out, we only sell out about 2 away games a year. I really don't see the problem? Unfortunately the big games someone has to miss out.

Is it fair for the club to allow supporters clubs to have 50 tickets per game when they alongside running a loyalty scheme? Clearly some fans think it’s not whilst others see the benefits of having supporters clubs and will accept that concessions have to be made to allow them to operate. I feel sorry for the club; football is such an emotive subject and whatever they do will be seen as wrong by a significant amount of people. It’s a difficult one, but in my opinion the club needs to make decisions that it thinks are right. It should do consultation, but it’s very difficult to get a representative opinion of all of our fanbase. Often the groups they do deal with are not representative and certainly are not diverse.

Personally I think the club should make a u-turn on the decision about supporters clubs and I do hope that Pete and the others have some success with it.

At the same time they really should sort out the awful situation with loyalty points. It’s a system that’s not indicative of our regular away fans who have season tickets and is wide open to abuse whenever people think there’s any demand for games. It doesn’t need gimmicky convoluted systems, just are you a season ticket holder and how many games away games have you been to in the last couple of seasons. This “I’m a better fan than you” attitude is pathetic. Burnley is an area with huge socio-economic issues. We want to encourage people to support the club and should welcome new and returning fans who may not have attended games previously for many reasons. Do we want fans returning after years of financial hardship to go home and away for a couple of years, but miss out on a huge game because Bert who buys a season ticket every year but never goes away fancies this one? It just seems so wrong to me, and I say that as a supporter who would be impacted hugely if the current system was changed. I accept that my away attendance is limited and don’t think my lifetime home attendance gives me preferential treatment over a newer fan who’s currently going away much more than me.

Not sure 10 points per away game will have much effect... Isn't that what people are complaining about now?
Well 600 or so points over the course of three years, and the club can easily see how many membership points everyone has so can set thresholds on that basis. It certainly wouldn't be the case that 12,000 people would have maximum points as you originally suggested.

If you do a reset of the points, and start the 3 Yr rolling points, all 12000 season ticket holders will have the same points, except those who get 10 for away games
If you don't start afresh, you might as well carry on as it is, as those with 6000 pts now, will always be first in the queue.

I reckon anyone who has their stubs from the orient game should get free tickets to all games and be chauffeured to and from games in limousines

The issue really is with the points system and the weighting which doesnt allow for away fans to be recognised.
18 loyalty points per home game for a season ticket holder - who commits to paying for all 19 games.
10 loyalty points per away game.

How is the weighting wrong?

The overall cost of following your team away equates to about 3 or 4 away games against the cost of a season ticket.

Hi gandhisflipflop, how are you working that out? £30 for away fan ticket (less for concessions), so 3 games away £90 and 4 games £120. ST bit more than those figures, I think.

Are you adding travel costs? For me to travel to Turf Moor, £100+ petrol (more I think at £1.30/litre). Maybe I overnight with friend/family or maybe I stay in hotel. I've stayed at the Dunkenhalgh before now, along with Chelsea team and some of their fans, £100+.

As I've posted, when I was buying a ST I only used to get on for 2 or 3 games a season - those games were costing me £150/game, let's say, before I added in my travel and overnight expenses.

My costs for an away game in London £30 less senior discount, so sometimes £25, sometimes £20. Travel costs £nil - I use my freedom pass.

Maybe add in my Foundation membership, because that gives me a chance at buying an away ticket. Let's say extra £15/game if I can get to 7 or 8 games.

We are all different.

That all depends on the individual circumstances. There’s absolutely no reason why an away game should cost anyone a third of the price of a season ticket.

Regardless, you get less than double the amount of points for a home game. Which considering that is money spent financially supporting our club, rather than an opposition club, I would suggest that the weighting of loyalty points is pretty fair.

Hi Paul, I am going off the majority of our fan base living within a commute of Turf Moor. Obviously you would be the exception rather than the norm.

As I have said above, it costs an awful lot more and a lot more commitment to follow your team away. You have to have a season ticket anyway to purchase away tickets against your clarets number. I am not suggesting that away fans are treat better than home fans, but it shouldn't be the case that those that are willing to go to the less glamourous games are suddenly cast aside when those that never go away but accumulate masses of points suddenly decide they want to attend the important games.

An adult that has a ST in the JMU and goes to 1 or 2 away games puts in same amount of money into BFC than an adult with a ST in the JMU and goes to 19 away games.

I’m not denying that that second person is spending more time & money supporting the team, but to the clubs eye both are equal

I don't think there's any suggestion of wiping out all loyalty points, just to have them start to expire so that people have a chance to catch up.

Genuinely struggling to see what the issue is here…

I’ve been a season ticket holder for 20+ years so have loads of loyalty points. Having previously gone on 5-10 away games a year I’m probably 1-2 now through family commitments.

When I do go on an away game I’ll normally use a supporters club coach. If we get an allocation of 2,500 that means that each supporters club was allocated UPTO 2% (I’m sure some of the smaller groups didn’t end up using all 50 tickets for every game). Now, isn’t 2% a small price worth paying to keep the supporters clubs going and provide them with the certainty they need to be able to book the coaches - both for the die hard away followers and fairweather followers too? We can’t seriously begrudge those groups when a handful of fans gets a ticket without the required points for that once in a blue moon big game, can we?

Let’s face it, if those fans using the 50 tickets had been claiming the points they were entitled to, they’d likely have the required points to meet the priority periods anyway!

Traditionally, one of the incentives of buying a season ticket was priority for away games. For new fans thinking of buying a season ticket this simply is no longer the case. The system for away tickets is broken and needs fixing.

Again, surely that only becomes relevant if we sold out away games.

Are there any minutes of these meetings between club officials and supporters?

I’d be interested to read whether the supporters group representatives speak on behalf of us all or whether they campaign for what’s in their own best interests.

No, I’ve never felt the need to be honest. I prefer to contact the club myself so I know it gets done and the message I want them to receive is accurate.

I have taken part in club surveys where they ask the fans what they want/ what could be done better. I don’t ever recall the supporters groups sending these out (But stand to be corrected if they do these and I’ve just never seen them). Maybe they do them for supporters club members only? I honestly don’t know.

You obviously have never driven to an away game in the Premier league.

Parking at all Premier league grounds is a nightmare unless you are prepared to pay silly money for parking and don't care how long it takes to get home.

I get has much pleasure planning the trip as I actually do taking it
City free back in forty minutes
Everton free back in probably fifty minutes
Liverpool free back in fifty minutes
Huddersfield was free back home in forty minutes
Newcastle free back in a couple of hours
Boro paid £2
Sunderland paid £2

Never had to pay much / had any other trouble parking at any of the above - coach travel is fine if you want to wander around the highways and byways picking up other Clarets enroute/dropping them off on the way back - no thanks

Train pffff waste of time - completely untrustworthy and ridiculous pricing

If going just for the game and not a social day out then driving is fine. Although you haven't mentioned petrol costs.

The train is great if you book early. The last away game Newcastle was 32 quid and a hassle free 3 hour journey.

No I didn’t mention petrol costs or socialising because I was replying to a post about car parking and the time taken to get home - we would normally call in somewhere on the way having said that … just means one of us can’t drink so I do get the socialising bit

Yes you can get good prices on train tickets in advance until the game gets moved plus you’ve still to get to and from the station at either end of your journey ?

Petrol wise to all of the above ? Not much at all really

I have taken part in club surveys where they ask the fans what they want/ what could be done better. I don’t ever recall the supporters groups sending these out (But stand to be corrected if they do these and I’ve just never seen them). Maybe they do them for supporters club members only? I honestly don’t know.
Not sure how we can judge whether they represent us, if we have not asked them to put something forward on our behalf. I agree it would be nice to access some record of discussion points or points of contact , I think it has been mentioned on here by representatives that it has been very quiet since the creation of the relatively new group. The people chosen were meant to be a range of different supporters.

However I'm sure if any of the supporters club are on these committees, they will be rightly putting forward concerns of their members. If I had got tickets through a supporters club for 15 years (I don't), in the process not collecting loyalty points and the system changed then I would be asking them to voice my concern.

Your clarets card/number could be used for collecting information on your away loyalty points Each game should accumulate points based on popularity /difficulty and effort to attend.
Mid week games more than 150 miles 50 points South coast 40 points London or Norwich 30 points Midlands /Newcastle 20 points Man Utd/City Liverpool /Everton 10 points. maybe base this on distance travelled for those that don't have a East Lancs area post code.
This should be based on a 3 year rolling accumulation. You should have the ability to apply for the games well in advance so the club knows how many ticket options they need to take up. (the club don't always take the full allocation of tickets)
I think this is a fairer system than the current system where the person who has never been to away game suddenly fancies Liverpool away because he is a Liverpool fan so uses his grandads season ticket number and 6000 points to get a ticket.
By using this suggested system I think the fans who make the effort and sacrifices to attend the difficult away games are rewarded and can get tickets for the local games as reward for attending Southampton on a Monday night.
No system is perfect . as previously said the club makes nothing for away travel but I am sure the players and manager appreciate away support encouraging them on.

That's the danger of stepping outside the official process. However long term a workaround is, it remains a workaround, and something like this can always happen

To be fair, when the stewards came over to start opening the turnstile 20 minutes late and saw the street packed with clarets.
He did say to his mate 'Where the bloody hell are we going to put all these?'

It seemed a big following inside but from the highlights it seems there were big empty areas down the front.

Just planning a trip to London and checked out the train prices on Avanti Rail and Trainline from BMR to Euston on a Saturday in September.
Even with a Senior Railcard it's £46 single!
Jeez. Prices on the trains seem to have gone up !

I was checking Manchester to Cardiff for October, and it seems like any early advance fares had been nixed for the time being. Don't know if they are currently allowed to only charge flat fares due to lost revenue?

Prices were going up with Avanti almost immediately. I had tickets booked with them for the Palace away game in 2020 but thankfully had booked through Virgin before the switch.

But for the supporters clubs it was the official process, as it was facilitated by the Club for at least 15 years!

Agree Pete, lets see how it effects the away support for the club.
I would suspect a lot.

I get that, i do, but then you get a new ownership, who take things as per the stated official policy, and as it appears, don't necessarily recognise the conventions that have built up outside of that. Hopefully the meeting manages to address that.

You are going though old ground from earlier in the thread, if it affects the away following that won't affect the club, but will affect the team, we never go with supporters clubs and agree it will be difficult regarding coaches, but nobody has and don't think they will miss out on match tickets.
