Capacity V Brighton

Post by TonbridgeClaret » Fri Jul 16, 2021 6:20 pm

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but is there any news yet on how many supporters will be allowed into Turf Moor for our opening game of the season against Brighton?

My wife and I live in Kent and only manage 2 or 3 home games in a season... we're hoping to attend this one.

Thanks in advance.

How are you at forcing your way past primary school age stewards, jumping ticket barriers and running fast up steps?? Any good?? You'll be fine. Watch You Tube to get tips on how it's done!!! ;)

We were told on Monday evening that there should be no restrictions on numbers but we still need to see official confirmation of this. However, I guess that the more the cases go up day by day the more doubtful that could be.

Might be useful to know if phase 2 fans can attend with less than a month to go.

The hold up is probably due to the Premier League deciding on entry conditions, whether or not to use covid passports etc.

And for those who don't want to use an app. You can get a letter here:

You'll need your NHS number.

Next week will be quite telling. Obviously Monday 19th being the day all restrictions are lifted and some T20 cricket matches which can no longer be classed as ‘test events’.

All the noise suggests there’s no reason why capacity will not be 100% though.

Decision on capacity will be made by Premier League and then by the ground safety manager, Police and LCC as they are the bodies that issue our safety certificate

How long are the letters or app confirmation valid for ? I thought it was 28 days but could be wrong. Needs to be some sort of testing or proof outside the ground though.

If you download a pdf from the app it’s valid for 30 days so I’m assuming it’s the same for the letter.

According to the website:
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavir ... ovid-pass/

"It is also known as a COVID-19 post vaccination letter. The paper version does not have an expiry date."

I was talking to a Liverpool fan yesterday who seemed to think the Premier league wanted the first 3 rows all around the ground remaining empty. He didn't say where he heard it from but both Liverpool and Everton have just been tested and given the go ahead for near capacity from the council.

Will be full capacity. If there are any restrictions on home crowds I will be looking to get a refund on my ticket as can’t be arsed going on with half crowds.

I’m struggling to see why it would not be full capacity based upon the guidelines in place (whether you agree with them or not).

Every chance a passport system is in place for the foreseeable though as I think will be the case at any large scale ticketed event (indoor or outdoor) for quite a while (or at least till the cases have subsided, assuming they do, to a manageable long term level).

Would the passport system prevent the age group of 18-30 getting to matches at the start of the season due to them not having time to complete their full vaccination? Or does the passport system include being allowed to prove a negative test?

Negative test result at Wembley. Although the crowd to get in rendered that process redundant.

Imagine it's a more cycnical ploy to do with their advertizing hoardings similar to what EUFA imposed many years before covid.

I’m heading to the T20 at Old Trafford tomorrow, with a full ground, yet still no news on how many folk can go to a game 4 weeks away.

Club needs to put out some sort of communication today, regards season tickets and phase 2, even if it’s a holding statement.

How many other clubs have put out definitive statements yet as a matter of interest (and I genuinely don’t know the answer)?

Interesting statement from the vaccine minister in the last half hour.

‘ Zahawi has announced that people will be required to be fully vaccinated to attend "large crowded settings" such as nightclubs from the end of September - after all over-18s have had the chance to receive both vaccine doses and develop immunity.

"So at that point we plan to make full vaccination a condition of entry to nightclubs and other venues where large crowds gather, proof of a negative test will no longer be sufficient," he said.

"We will ensure the appropriate exemptions for those who have genuine medical reasons of why they can't get vaccinated and I'm clear we will always look at the evidence available and do all we can to ensure people can continue to do the things they love."

Wonder if ‘venues where large crowds gather’ will include sports stadia?

It’d be illogical if they didn’t given, even though the seats are in the open air, the concourses are crowded and enclosed. Of course it being illogical has been no guide to government policy so best to await clarification.

It would be interesting to see how they make this work for everyone and especially for under 18’s.... would they be allowed/need a test?

No. That’s why they’re saying the end of September, time for anyone who hasn’t been vaccinated to have both.

Without doubt as the guidance appears to be nightclubs and crowded venues.

I assume a football stadium to be a crowded venue unless they have separate guidance for arenas and sporting events etc
