Well this is pretty damn good.
Great vocals
Deacon on bass - wow!
Mick Ronson - coolest guy ever? What a talent he was.
Far too many taken so young (including Freddie himself). What a fitting double act. Tremendous!

What a tragedy that those 2 were taken as soon as they were. The term legend is brandished far too easily nowadays but they certainly were worthy of that status.

There's an argument that rock stars should die youngish so they are always remembered for their performances and not shuffling around in slippers and comfortable cardigans.

WHAT !!!!!!!. Queen produced some of the best songs ever recorded.
You may well be hard of hearing though so just get the lyrics and remember when you were lonely.

In disagreeing with bodge, I'll say that Queen are one of the best acts I've ever seen live. The last time I saw them was at Maine Road on the Magic Tour in 1986. You might not have liked them bodge, and that I can accept, but they were very definitely not utterly dreadful, beyond listenable or totally unpalatable.
As for respect for Bowie - he was an absolute genius.

I have time for Bowie. I own a couple of his albums and a singles compilation or two. However, as with virtually every act, there's stuff I just can't stand, and Bowie provides a few, Boys Keep Swinging for example. He's widely regarded as a legend, and I'll go along with that whole-heartedly.
As for Queen, Freddie Mercury was every thing a front-man should be; charismatic, energetic and had a presence rarely matched on stage. Great voice too. Again, as with Bowie, there's some of their material I have to skip when it's spinning. I'm Going Slightly Mad springs to mind. Another where 'legend' is more than deserving. I was never an out-and-out Queen fan, far from it, but I remember feeling numb when I heard of his death.

Radio gaga & I want to break free were top top tunes the rest goes on mute for me, horses for courses even though I wasn’t keen I’d still prefer them to some of the sh1t that gets AirPlay nowadays.

The thing about Queen that made them special was the songs written by all four in very different styles. When you then add in the quality of the musicianship and an unrivalled front man it becomes work of genius shown particularly on both A Night at the Opera and my particular favourite A day at the races.
They will definitely not be everyone’s cup of tea, as in everything, but it is difficult not to be wowed by the complexity of vocal harmonies and brilliantly written songs particularly from the mid 70’s. There is even one half of a song sung in Japanese that is just brilliant.
I was also one of the lucky ones at Maine Road given it was the last tour as it turned out.

The few who know me on here can confirm that I had a record collection worth thousands of pounds. I sold some of that, then rebuilt my collection and made a mint. I now have a collection of vinyl and cds that are worth a lot of money including rare demos and cds not released over here that sell for up tp £800 each.
None of them include any of the tracks you and Bosscat alluded to. None of them include Bowie or Queen, but I do concede that some Queen tracks are worth a bob or two. However, I think that Queen in particular are overrated. My initial comment on having to bump your own post was an observation on jd being surprised that he didn't get a lot of people flooding the board agreeing with him.
I don't even know some of the artists that some tried to slag me off with. I presume they are crap artists that you listen to, but you know they are crap, so try to belittle me by your knowledge of inferior music?
I also think Steve 1956 that your ridiculous comment Bucks Fizz shows your musical knowledge and taste.
