I’m sure it will be busier than normal but doubt it will be breaking any records. Friendlies are just training matches and not competitive. I watched them when I was a young but don’t bother anymore.

Re: ARTICLE: Pay on the day at Oldham
Hi Macca cheers for the offer I appreciate it but I'm going to turn it down as the boys want to go by train.
They can get back to their mums in Yorkshire from Mills Hill train station afterwards if they choose to go straight back.
Thanks though.

There's car parking available for £5 behind the Joe Royle stand (that stand isn't being used)Sheedyclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 10:25 amAnyone advise best place for parking in and around boundary park?
Never been to the ground though so I don't know how easy to get in/out is.

In the past I always used to park on the verges of the dual carriage ways that surround the ground, never got a ticket though it must be over 20 years since I was last down boundaryQuickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 11:41 amThere's car parking available for £5 behind the Joe Royle stand (that stand isn't being used)

I bought three extra this morning so back on sale. Looked to have sold just short of 500 according to the ticket references I was given.

@ Leisure, are you doing any transport for the Oldham match mate? wouldn't mind making a day of it with a few beers rather than driving. If not what are everyone planning for getting their driving or is there a train route etc? Pubs to meet up in etc.

Re: ARTICLE: Pay on the day at Oldham
For anyone wanting pre match beers, the 1pm kick off is a bit of a problem.
There is a beefeater style pub right behind the away end called "the Clayton green", but as highlighted above, you would probably have maximum an hour in there before kick off.
For those wanting an earlier Beer, in Royton there are a few bars in the precinct which open and serve 10ish onwards. From here it is a short walk to the ground (less than a mile).
In Shaw, there is a wetherspoons and this is about a two mile walk to the ground or a taxi.
For those coming from mills hill train station, it's a nice walk from there to the ground, about a mile and a half,
where you will pass about three pubs. So either on route or on the way back to the station you have a few pit stops.
Hope this helps.

Re: ARTICLE: Pay on the day at Oldham
If you wish to go by train I think the 10.38 from Manchester Rd to Mills Hill will be the popular one.
Off peak return is £10.40

9.54 is when I will arrive in Mills Hill, think any pubs open along that way or best to get a taxi up to Royton?

Re: ARTICLE: Pay on the day at Oldham
Best bit is either a taxi from mills hill up to Shaw to wetherspoons (about 3 miles) or into Royton to the centre to a bar called "rumours" which i am pretty sure serves from 10am.
From royton, less than a mile walk to the ground.

Re: ARTICLE: Pay on the day at Oldham
We are getting train to Rochdale then tram to Oldham. There’s a Wetherspoons in the town centre and three others that are open from 10am.
Will get an Uber to the ground at about 12.15pm

Rather than getting an Uber download a local taxi firm app GMX and it’s about 2/3 quid cheaper than an Uber

Cheers. Will look into that. To be fair Uber was only coming out at £4Vanders1994 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 23, 2021 8:55 pmRather than getting an Uber download a local taxi firm app GMX and it’s about 2/3 quid cheaper than an Uber

as mentioned by someone else in the thread, there is a huge car park near the away end, has to be the closest place but would still require a walk - maybe drop the mrs off and go park therecolne-claret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 23, 2021 9:51 pmAny ideas on best place to park as near to ground as possible. Re: ARTICLE: Pay on the day at Oldham
Seems ages since as a lower league side I cast envious looks at Premier league Oldham
Re: ARTICLE: Pay on the day at Oldham
The day has arrived and I'm a little bit excited if thats the correct word.
Not seen any live sport for 16 months, and I know it's only a friendly but I'm getting the old match day feeling back, hopefully the break means I've got the bug back more than ever as it was beginning to wane a bit.
Taking my lad too, and hes had 2 seasons off pre covid, so hopefully he gets the bug back too and starts nagging me to go on more.
Hopefully all that go have a great day, and create a good atmosphere that lifts everyones spirits for the coming season.
Football is back,
Burnley are back!

Re: ARTICLE: Pay on the day at Oldham
Decided last minute to bring my little lad to his second game after his first against parma where 3 wasps went down his top so hoping for some better luck what are the chances of it being too full and us being turned away?
Re: ARTICLE: Pay on the day at Oldham
I'd say zero, it's nearly 4k that away end, and theres a closed stand to our right too, which I'm sure if need be a we could hop into, but I doubt that would be needed.WazzaClaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 9:26 amDecided last minute to bring my little lad to his second game after his first against parma where 3 wasps went down his top so hoping for some better luck what are the chances of it being too full and us being turned away?
There only used to be 3.5 - 4k on the Accy friendlies in total, and they were literally down the road.

Someone mentioned the new stand as the one that was closed due to a dispute over payment or something.
I'm not 100% which stand is closed, but the one to the left was the old main stand wasnt it with the ticket offices, dug outs etc in?
Cant imagine that being closed, but who knows
