I'm will be looking soon to have some new window blinds fitted. I know there was a thread on here a couple of years ago but I can't find it.

Has anyone used a local company and can recommend them.

Barnham Blinds, I've used him for a while now, sadly he's a Chelsea fan if that has any bearing, but a proper one, he moved up here for his wife.

He is called Ross 07857459660

If you have a screwdriver, drill and spirit level or know somebody who does, then they are pretty easy to do yourself. Made to measure here: https://www.blinds-2go.co.uk

I used them for 6 windows - no complaints

I've got a contact number for him but it's for the kitchen, two windows and patio doors initially once the decorating has been done.

Give him a call Tony, he’ll happily give you a quote.

He was my assistant with the coaching I do, hence the kit sponsorship

A bloke called Kev did mine, white wooden ones for the whole house.

I know a couple of good companies who cover your area, unless you're still blocking my posts, in which case you won't see this

If the blinds are just to block the sun Tony (rather than for privacy) then you can also consider replacing the glass with laminated glass. We have that and we are south-facing.

We used 247 blinds. They tell you how to provide the measurements and have an excellent range. They keep you informed of progress and delivery quickly. You can request as many samples from them as you wish. We’ve had Venetians and vertical blinds from them. Any handyman can fit them and the cost including his time still worked out a lot cheaper than ordering from a local firm. We’re intending to order some more in the next few months.

I would also vote for Plantation Shutters, my S-I-L has had them installed, against patio doors too..they really look the business, stylish and very modern.

Blindingly obvious that they should go from the bottom to the top rather than top to bottom.

This setup allows for complete privacy without having to block out all your natural light.

'ti's rather expensive though unless you engineer a solution yourself.

He's helped us out numerous times whilst at his his last company and since he's been on his own, and trust me when I say that twice is nothing.
I have 2 fussy children and a wife that must have changed style and colours several times over a couple of days

He is very patient and helpful!

Just don't use Hilarys. A mate works for them, and also does blinds independently. Don't even ask which are better quality and price

Did you, or has anyone got this style: https://www.blinds-2go.co.uk/perfect-fi ... gJTrfD_BwE

I'm not sure if these would work with our patio doors as the beading (if that's the correct terminology) is angled and not square/right angle to the glass.

Could anyone advise if this type of blind would be suitable?

Cheers

I will second that. I had a short spell working for them around 5 years ago, managing a team of installers and found them to be absolute shysters. All of their sales people and installers are classed as self employed, which in theory means they can choose when they work and who for. Other than in name, they are employed, with Hilarys of course avoiding any employers responsibilities, such as holiday pay, pension, employers NI contributions to name a few. I know Uber and few others tested the self employed aspect, i wouldn't be surprised to see Hilarys go through the same.

I started having a lot of work done on the house almost three years ago and I made the decision to use local tradesmen as much as possible. Most of the people I've used have been via recommendations from people on this message board.

I didn't know about Ross until I asked re: blinds but there were two very quick recommendations (MACCA & wilks_bfc). I can assure you I've not been disappointed at all. Really good bloke, we talked football, and he helped me choose style and colour for the blinds in the kitchen (two windows and patio doors). I'll be getting more blinds soon as the work continues. I won't be going anywhere else for them.

He a sound guy is Ross, even though he supports Chelsea.

Burnley are his 2nd team though since he moved here, which is good!

He used to live a couple of doors down from me, so came on the odd time if I had a spare.
I've definitely seen him in Burnley merchandise, and he wants us to win the other 36 games a season, so that's probably the best you can hope for from a relocated Cockney
