If they decide that it’s a condition of entry, which they are perfectly entitled to do, then they can enforce it. I’m not sure what telling the steward to get stuffed would achieve unless you’re just trying to be the big man??
Presumably they hadn't decided that, given the poster said he was the only one who was asked amongst his group. I'm not sure how they can insist on this rule anyway, given that it's not a law anymore. Besides, does the virus only come out to play when people go to the bog?

It was no skin off my nose to be fair. We did notice all the stewards were wearing masks, seemed weird I was asked but hey-ho
I would certainly have questioned their logic.

I don’t think I saw a single person wearing a mask.

The consistency of it was crap but they can insist on anything as a condition of entry. If they chose to they could insist on you wearing a bar stewards shirt as a condition of entry!

I'm sat at home simply because I was concerned at the potential for large numbers turning up and there being chaos. Seems like that could be the case.
Maybe best to go to a cricket match before you go back on the Turf. Just enough of a crowd to get used to and ease yourself in talking to people but with big enough areas of space to go if you feel nervous.

That seems a very sensible approach to it all for the nervous to ease back

But it wasn't a condition of entry. It was just a condition for one person going to the thunderbox!

Crap consistency indeed.

When we were queuing up to go in a steward was saying that masks were necessary when moving around and when going to the toilet. Bit strange how very few were challenged but good on the steward who did if it was actually a condition of entry.

camping is something else I don't do - over several thousand years man has developed lots of building technology and things like plumbing, heating etc, because it improved the quality of life, I am always grateful for and respectful to those efforts.
Well done - it’s taken a while but finally you are talking sense

Sorry, missread you to say that you were in the home end. Wondered how you’d posted an article on the U23’s whilst sat at Boundary Park

Totally understand why and it’s obviously personal choice but in my view you need to learn to live with it now that the risks are significantly reduced otherwise there will be other consequences as you’ve alluded to.
Love your positivity but many, many fully vaccinated folk are still catching covid. They say that it reduces the severity but there have still been fatalities. Anybody that has any doubts about there general health situation is better off being ultra- careful about mixing with the public.

Don't look at community transmission - it's now almost a red herring. Look at mortality rates - that's what counts. The overwhelming majority double vaccinated are very well protected. Even if they contract Covid the acuity of their illness is substantially reduced. I can tell you with confidence it's not one dimensional - there are enormous mental health, physical health, social and economic detrimental consequences of being ultra careful. In my view being ultra careful is foolish apart from in very exceptional circumstances.

I know a few double jabbed people who caught Covid at Wembley and have been pretty unwell. But on the plus side they would probably have had it a lot worse if they hadn't been jabbed.

Thankfully it won't be as chaotic and busy at the Turf as it was at Wembley

I suppose that depends on how you define living.
We may be entering a "new normal", and may never return fully to what we were used to.
