I'd like to think Richardson is going to be knocking on the door of the first team squad this season.
Me too.
He must be close

Knocking in a goal in pre season isn’t a good indicator that someone is ready for the first team and particularly in the PL. Juke was prolific in pre season but couldn’t hit a barn door in the league. Training games only so I don’t bother with them until the last one before the season starts.

Good run out, that. Oldham worked us hard.

Much better second half, Dwight looking a cut above everyone. Of the youngsters, Richardson & Mancini impressed me most. Collins looked decent apart from a poor pass early on.

Just on the way home now.

A good run out, second half we looked a very good outfit and the level of class shone. First half was very much a fitness session and nothing more.

Richardson looked a player. First half restricted to mere touches (albeit had one beautiful piece of skill to beat his man on the right hand side), but up top with Jay Rod he caused havoc for the start of the second half. Had a few nibbles but then got his goal with a great bit of instinct. His movement looks first rate and whilst I would never judge a friendly against League Two opposition as evidence of Premier League ability, he looked ‘ready’ to be involved with the team (IMO). His physique, stamina, strength on the ball and movement are all there. Someone above asked what type of player is he, that’s a tough one to answer. This was the first time I had seen Richardson live and if I had to compare him to a player we’ve had recently I would struggle. He’s quite different in that he drops deep in to a sort of ‘Robbie Blake’ area, but plays off the shoulder at times as a more Paterson/Ings type. Very energetic player and seriously exciting.

Best players for me today were Dwight, Jay, Richardson and Tarkowski.

A word also for Gomez-Mancini who was excellent from the moment he came on. He has a lot of bite to him, to say the least - but also really composed and cultured on the ball. I liked the look of him.

Positive to hear good reviews for Gomez Mancini and Richardson.

That goal will do him absolutely no harm whatsoever.

Really enjoyed that, wasn’t a bad game to be honest. I said on another thread a couple of days ago you just know with some young players that they’ve got something special. It’s going to be very interesting watching Richardson’s progress over the next couple of seasons.

Mancini certainly imposed himself on the game when he came on which is good to see from a youngster.

McNeil looked incredibly sharp considering it’s relatively early still.

Collins is a giant.

They announced the attendance (3,000 plus) and the away following but you couldn't pick it up for the commentary team talking about nothing to do with the match.

To be fair we got in pretty quickly. Bring you own cleaning stuff for your seats though. Absolutely filthy.
I took my daughters today, arrived 15 mins before KO, parked up, walked in, no queues and had lot of seats to choose from. Good turn out for a friendly, good atmosphere.

My girls commented how grubby they seats were though, you could tell that no one has set foot in that stand for well over a year.

Work with an Oldham fan so messaged him having a laugh about the state of the seats and he said some of the players have been helping tidy the stadium up this week.

To be honest I wish I was there but I rarely go out and I felt too nervous having to get public transport and then find chaos when I got there, more so with it being pay on the day.
Genuine question - how do you feel currently about going back to a full Turf Moor? I'm certainly anxious about it.

Fair play to the fans who turned out in good numbers for a friendly. I do know where Oldham is but it still costs to get there plus a tenner to go on.

Whilst it's true one shouldn't read too much into younger players' performances it's better to read that they impressed than the other way round.

You are not the only one and it was my nervousness that kept me away today and also will be the case for Blackpool on Tuesday. I'm going to be very nervous when I first go on, more so after all the problems encountered for the Liverpool game, but at some point I'm going to have to bite the bullet and go.

But no one should be dismissing anyone being anxious about it given what we have been through and are still going through.

I'm half vaccinated, my second vaccination is due in mid-August.

I've always had anxieties in life, due to a traumatic incident as a child. I was just about getting on top of it when covid hit. The last 18 months or so have been a struggle!

I've always been one to shy away from social situations and crowds. Took me a while to feel comfortable going on the Turf when I was in my teens.

It's been a big struggle for me. I've rarely been out of the house. I've only been out twice since the Liverpool game. I'm out tomorrow for a family christening but I'm nervous. It's difficult, it really is. I've had both vaccines (the one advantage of being older) and I will be at the Brighton game in three weeks when I'm going to see some of my mates for the first time in 17 months. But I fully understand your anxiety.

Oldham gave us a good game, especially first half but after h/t you could tell the difference in class.

Burnley fans were loud before the match, you could tell a few were happy to be back on the day out! I doubt that attendance was correct as there were no tickets and obviously cash only, didn't charge me for 3 year old son. His hand were black from playing with the seats!

Roll on Tuesday

Totally understand why and it’s obviously personal choice but in my view you need to learn to live with it now that the risks are significantly reduced otherwise there will be other consequences as you’ve alluded to.

Not many that I saw, few going in but it was spacious and no one near us was wearing one. Unlike the rest of the people I was sat with, I was asked by a steward to put a mask on when I went to the toilet before h/t - again I was the only one wearing in down there

Not many to be honest mate, I only saw a few. Sure a few more will be wearing them when in a full stadium.

We've been living in a State of Fear for over a year now.

Rightly or wrongly, the only way the government have been able to implementing their lockdown policies is by instilling this fear in people.

Once they've done that (and they have) then that fear is there. Fear is THE main driving force behind human behaviour.

If you don't have fear then evolution dictates you don't live very long. You get trampled by a mammoth, eaten by a tiger or fall of a cliff face etc etc.

For some people, the fear will outlast whatever danger there may (or may not) be by a long stretch.

If this government has any conscience they'll be looking to reassure people as we come out of lockdown and providing information that allows people to make informed choices about the risks involved and start to actually live their lives again.

Attendance was given as 2071 over the PA system, I'd say Burnley fans out numbered the home fans, but given the post a ive regards 982 travelling fans obviously not.

It certainly didnt seem there were 2700 seats left in the away section thats for sure.

Maybe Diane Abbott was doing the counting...

Would liked to have gone but couldn’t make it in the end. Would have been a nice day out.

Absolutely cannot wait for the Brighton game now though.

Not many that I saw, few going in but it was spacious and no one near us was wearing one. Unlike the rest of the people I was sat with, I was asked by a steward to put a mask on when I went to the toilet before h/t - again I was the only one wearing in down there
If I'd been in your shoes I'd have told the steward to get stuffed! :x

If they decide that it’s a condition of entry, which they are perfectly entitled to do, then they can enforce it. I’m not sure what telling the steward to get stuffed would achieve unless you’re just trying to be the big man??

I understand that it’s all about perspective, but it’s struck me how sensitive people are to the virus and it’s variants. I know fit and healthy people who are saying they’ll feel ‘relieved’ when they get the second jab. They’ve not left the house in months. It’s bonkers. They couldn’t believe I went to the cinema as soon as they re-opened, drinking in pubs and travelling to different places. It’s makes me wonder what they think the world is like outside their front door.

Apart from the crowed places, wearing masks in shops and people generally socially distancing, the obviously stuff - since Christmas, nothing has been much different when I’ve been out and about.

I’m not a fan of crowds myself, I just haven’t been to all the places the idiots have been going to, you have to be clever. If it’s been sunny, I head to the hills for a nice walk - because the numpties descend to the beaches, for Euros final watched with my family because I knew the numpties fill the streets and pubs…

But in general, it’s ok. Life is for living and if you’ve done everything you can do and that’s getting the jab, why spend the rest of your days hiding from something your probably not going to get?

It was no skin off my nose to be fair. We did notice all the stewards were wearing masks, seemed weird I was asked but hey-ho
