Barnes should score from a wicked McNeil cross. Think he's looked lively since he came on tbf!

Peach of a cross from Dwight headed wide by Ash. Easier to score.

Blackpool's trialist FB has had a very decent game against O'Neil. Maybe we should take a look at him?

Fair play to the commentary team. They have been very even handed and complimentary to Burnley.
Did go on a bit about the ball change though.

Some of our youngsters have looked decent tonight, except Glennon, he looks dreadful.
I'd like to see some of them out on loan this season, if we can actually sign some players

Excellent result for the boys. Will hopefully give Sean, and more importantly the board the confidence that we’ve got enough to go into the new campaign with.

Re: Blackpool & Forest friendlies available to watch on Clarets +
Not a bad exercise for the lads.
My notes from the game were:
Positives
Richardson looks a talent.
Thomas looked very assured second half.
I also thought Mee looked very calm and assured (ready for the season)
Negatives
Midfield struggled throughout the game. Especially through the middle. 1st half they were anonymous.
Collins looked nervy in the first half
Overall not a bad game and a few of the young lads can claim a stake for the 1st team squad.

Another good run out, heard a few people grumble but all about fitness and competitiveness. Decent atmosphere on the game, the town as expected was full of Scottish tourists.

Re: Blackpool & Forest friendlies available to watch on Clarets +
My summary off the game
- Thomas looks decent for us.
- Glennon was lucky not to see red, horror tackle friendly or not that's a bad one.
- Blackpool's trialist had a belting game, anybody know who he is ?
- Blackpool commentators very complimentary about Burnley and how we always get labeled with the long ball tag (They said we are much better than people give us credit for)

I thought Nartey was a central defender. He came on and played midfield. Am I mistaken?
Agree Glennon (who has looked good in the past) looked very much off it tonight.

Re: Blackpool & Forest friendlies available to watch on Clarets +
I bet he will be buzzing after that performance, keeping Dwight in check is no mean feat. He will be having tangerine dreams if he manages to get any sleep tonight.
Decent run about, but Darth Vader called it.
A couple of our youngsters did okay, but nothing to suggest we can draw on our youth squad to fill the large number of gaps we will have in the next couple of years if we stay up. We could be looking at replacing most of the squad in the next two seasons or giving most of them expensive new contracts to see them into their twilight years. We definitely don't have the cash to replace twelve or more players in that short space of time, even if we spread the payments and / or sell our best players. Not if we want to meet all our debt repayments as well.

Re: Blackpool & Forest friendlies available to watch on Clarets +
Bobby Thomas seriously impressed me last season in the cup against Millwall, looked very assured tonight and to top it off is clearly a box threat due to his size.
I fail to see why we are apparently seeking another centre back when we have someone of his potential apparently behind even Kevin Long, personally. I have no doubt he’s a long way from being a starter in the Premier League but he looks a real prospect in my opinion.
McNeil again looking a cut above anything we have, and Gudmundsson again flattering to deceive. All the links are to right wingers and it’s no wonder, it’s a clear weakness in our team for me. JBG, when fit, is a useful squad member and would be a good bench option but we absolutely need to be finding a player to take his first 11 place before the window shuts. Reasonable squad if all fit and ready if we can get a winger or two, in my opinion - Richardson, Thomas and Gomez-Mancini all involved off the bench too this season I think?

Re: Blackpool & Forest friendlies available to watch on Clarets +
Nope, you are correct, he played in midfield. However, even when he plays in central defence he usually makes so many forward runs, carrying the ball out, that it is easy to mistake him for a midfielder. Then again, our development squad is a bit bonkers with it's five man midfield set up and it play out from the back directive.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 9:43 pmI thought Nartey was a central defender. It's either an attempt to change our formation at the youth level in a plan for the future or down to the fact that we don't have the players to play in any other formation ( a severe shortage of strikers and wingers ).
