I think top two from each of 4Xgroups go through to a quarter final stage.Claretnick wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 11:29 pmFour teams in the group, they have played 2 matches each and all on 3 points. New Zealand face Romania tomorrow in their final group game, all to play for.
I hear he is delighted with the installation of new seating in our dug out....ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 10:28 pmCame back yesterday and has gone through all the testing

I take it by your posts your not keen on him, just an opinion but wood and vydra are our best 2 front pairing. Welcome back vyds!!Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Wed Jul 28, 2021 10:39 am34 starts and 39 sub appearances for Burnley so he is on the bench more than he is in the starting line up. How many of the games he started did he go on to play the full 90 minutes?
Play in the QF’s on Saturday now. Hoping they get knocked out & he’s back here in time to partner Vyds up front vs Cadiz.
Yes I'd agree Vydra/Wood is our best striking partnership, and you could see they were starting to build an understanding towards the tail end of last season when they've had a run of games up front together, so hopefully they'll continue where they left off last term.Barlickclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 28, 2021 5:59 pmI take it by your posts your not keen on him, just an opinion but wood and vydra are our best 2 front pairing. To be fair his goal scoring record when he came into the team at the end of the season was pretty decent and over a season would have equated to the 7-10 you mention.tiger76 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 28, 2021 7:35 pmYes I'd agree Vydra/Wood is our best striking partnership, and you could see they were starting to build an understanding towards the tail end of last season when they've had a run of games up front together, so hopefully they'll continue where they left off last term.
And we just look a much better side with Vyds in the line-up, and he has a huge impact on the likes of McNeil who is a different player when he's got someone to link with, and who's also prepared to run the channels.
If I was going to be hyper critical of Vydra he does need to improve on his end product, yes he enables us to stretch the opposition defences, and his clever movement offers us something different that our other forwards don't possess, but ultimately he'll be judged on his goals return, as any good strikers always will be, nobody expects him to suddenly become prolific at PL level, but if he could even chip with 7-10 goals over the campaign, that would lift some of the onus from Chris Wood's broad shoulders, we can't keep expecting him to keep us up on his own, he needs the rest of the side to chip in now and again including Vydra.
Yes he would be about that figure over the course of a full season, hence why he should continue to partner Wood come the start of the season, we just carry a greater goal threat with him on the pitch, and as much as I love Barnes and Jay Rod neither had their best campaign last time, but both could still have a large part to play from the bench, however I sense SD values the Wdyra pairing, and I hope he'll stick with them for the Brighton game and beyond, when Vydra is on the pitch we play it on the floor a lot more also, and look a far more attractive side to watch.
