Lancs League Sunday

Post by Somethingfishy » Sun Aug 01, 2021 2:00 pm

House at Walsden. A tricky assignment. They will be out for revenge. Good start for Walsden. 51/0 from 14.

Ocky won a great game for Read yesterday. Chased 261 on the last ball with a century.

Not sure. Just very inconsistent. Certain players perhaps past their best. Today we've handed this to Walsden with a ridiculous display of batting. Run rate is fine but the composure is non existant. Doesn't seem to be a structure or calmness to the chase. We are a poor chasing team at the best of times.
Walsden is a tiny ground..4s and 6s should be aplenty. Walsden hit numerous. We've not hit one 6. Therein lies part of the problem.

Yeah, was poor today, you got the feeling none of the players ever believed they could chase that. Still fancy Lowerhouse to beat Clitheroe in the final but a poor season in the league, looks like they need a reshuffle and some fresh blood next year

A pity Colne tail did not wag, innings finished with a hat-trick for Coleman.
Colne Amateurs improving weekly since new Pro arrived !
Totals for Colne batsmen without Pro and Mr.Extras:
v Walsden 33 Pro 90
v Burnley 86 Pro 75
v Rochdale 127 Pro 0
v Clitheroe 137 Pro 20
Heading for a victory !!

With both teams fielding sub pro's it will likely come down to who chooses best.

Never seemed to have a plan. We were aggressive to begin with and were well ahead of the rate but silly shots were played and a crazy run out, very nearly two.
The frustrating thing is I truly believe we are as good as any team in the league we just really let ourselves down..and too often. Our position now means we are just a very awkward team to play in many teams title chase. A chase we really should have been in.
Not sure where the fresh blood comes from. The best kids we have are quite young. We are entering into a transition phase slowly but surely. Jury is out with me on Parry. He isn't bad..it's just that he is nothing special.

I don’t think we are anywhere near 3-4 sides, Walsden, Darwen, Burnley & Norden

Agree on Parry, good player but he doesn’t look a game winner. I do rate him and actually think he will be a different player next year

Walsden are head and tails the best team. I just feel they weren't at their best today and we didn't make the most of it. I thought they underscored considering the start they had and wickets in hand they had.
The rest are all good teams but i don't think they are any level above us. On any day we are very capable of beating any of them..and we do. They are just more consistent and resilient.

Agree on Walsden today, I felt 240 was par.
My first time at the ground, I like it, small boundaries and decent club house

Definitely Kez's day. A diving catch off his own bowling for his 5th wicket..a catch from Kez is a collector's item, a diving one requires an immediate drug test 😃

Harwood used to be lively in the late 90s when Padiham played there.
Rovers fans always used to pick our game to sponsor because we were from the Burnley area.

A Harwood fan got in the away changing room and poured a pint over our pro Mark Harvey.

I remember a 60yr old Padiham supporter, who never said a word usually saying he was sorting a firm to go over and sort them out. It was bizarre.

It's ok but nothing more. Very small. Barely any room to even walk around the edges. The natives can be a touch gobby too. Dump is a bit harsh though :D
