Is he likely to be re-signed if we fail to bring in anyone else to play wide, or is it just me being cynical?

Dyche has said he wouldn’t rule it out and didn’t want to lose him in the first place!

Really don't get the brouhaha over this. Dyche didn't want to lose him.

If Dyche thinks he's good enough then it doesn't matter if he played for us before????

I really didn't see him give us anything first time around.

@CT what was his average score on player ratings for us please?

I get your point, however we have Mancini sat there watching a non BFC player play in 2 games for us against tougher opposition, where he had played quite well previously, what message does that give him or any other young player coming through?

He wasn’t good enough 3 years ago but yeah let’s sign him up I’m sure his game has improved a lot now he’s 34.

If he gets a year, the only time to worry is if he starts games. Bringing him on to use his experience to close games out should be acceptable

I think the best compliment I could extend to re-signing Lennon would be that he'd be better than having Pieters out on the wing again.

Still don't think some of you get what padding out the squad means. Lennon is a perfect example of padding out. Experienced player, knows he isn't guaranteed a start but is reliable and fills a slot, even if it's as back up. It allows another season to develop players and/or sign a replacement.
If Lennon was to sign I don't think he's expecting to walk into the starting XI.
Dyche knows that too but it fills a spot where previously we've had to shove Brownhill or Pieters and that is not their position.
He won't be the last of our transfer business and he's not the player who'll start on the right wing come the close of the window.

If we sign Lennon again, it will be just as embarrasing as signing Crouch or Stephens. So it wouldn't surprise me if we did.

The problem with "padding out" the squad is that it doesn't create competition for first team starts.

I couldn't care less whether we sign Lennon or not as long as those who play for us help to keep us in the Premier League.

34 year old coming to the end, I'd imagine he will be looking for a big pay package. He was on a big salary last time (for a club like ours)
I'd rather we did some padding with younger players on a lower wage packet, raw with some potential.

Lennon has always been about pace, he's well over a year older than the last time we had him.

Ben-if we are definitely signing a "proper pacy" right winger then I fully see your logic of having squad depth. Sadly many fans dont share that confidence, owing to our recruitment history in the past two or more years. It would not surprise some of us if we did not make another first 11 signing. I hope I am wrong

Don't talk rot he'll be nowhere near our highest earner if he should sign, and the reason people back SD is because he's kept us in the PL for 5 seasons in a row now, and despite our troubles in the market you wouldn't bet against him making that 6 next year.

I am not confident that he could come on and change a game , he’s not been a game changer for many years now.
I can see him coming towards the end of a game to give the required discipline needed to help the side keep whatever points they’ve got. That might also mean hanging on to a point as well.
The squad numbers permitted on match days are much bigger than they used to be; some days he could be used and other days not so.

75 thousand a week in Turkey and was also offered 75 thousand a week in the Middle East. He isn’t coming here for a packet of chocolate buttons. All on the manager is this and nothing to do with Pace

Dyche can't help himself.

Can't cope with the owners buying young players with potential so has to even it out by bringing old experienced players in.

Shambles at the minute, let's hope the next 2 weeks improve it.

Our previous board refused to give Lennon a new deal, I assume due to wages as much as age. We all know Dyche wasn't happy that a few older high earners were not given new deals.

Maybe his demands might have come down now after a year sponging money abroad, but I still reckon they will be high for a club like ours.
If they feel he will be an asset, even if just a bit part asset.. then go for it. I just feel for the money he would be getting from us it seems a bad deal for us.

He’s too old, a waste of a wage and he didn’t pull up any trees last time, so I highly doubt he will now he’s two years older.

Please let us get another wide man in.

When Aaron Lennon was last here, he was so good he managed 4 league starts in his final season.

Unless he has Benjamin Button qualities to him, it’s hard to see his potential signing as anything other then a retrograde step for us.

Well! if we're committing to spending those wages on a 34 year old bit part player at the behest of SD, then yes I'll be in total agreement with you.

It was bad enough that we got landed with Dale Stephens last summer, who's been about as useful as a chocolate teapot, and is also on a large salary.

As I say if AL can attract that kind of money abroad, then good luck to him, but no way should Burnley be even contemplating offering him anything like those eye-watering sums, we already have plenty of experience in our squad, what we're crying out for is some pace.

At the risk of boring people I'll repeat yet again, Jed Wallace at Millwall who scored today, should be within our budget in terms of both fees and wages, he's out of contract in 2022, so if we have any spare change hiding down the back of the sofa I'd far rather we stretched ourselves to bring him in, at best Lennon is a stop gap for a year, and we'll find ourselves in an even bigger hole next season. plus he has zero sell on value, now not every purchase has to have that, Bardsley & Pieters are prime examples, but we do need to try and ensure we have a balanced squad of aged pros, but also some youth and drive, as it stands we're in grave danger of being left with a bunch of over 30's who won't get any better, and in some cases are now in decline.

You keep banging on about Jed Wallace? What have you seen from him that suddenly makes him a premier league at the age off 27? I’ve never seen him play but makes me wonder why he is still slumming it at the bottom end of the championship

If there is no-one else, then Lennon is better than Glennon.

We are short across midfield, however, we have Gudmundsson with Brownhill able to cover and Jay Rodriguez is very capable of playing wide.

Dyche cannot be defended if we re-sign Lennon. Would be beyond embarrassing and confirm what a lot of fans suspect about our transfer dealings.
