Good footage from the fa cup 5th round tie from 1962.Home game but for some reason we are playing in all white.Attendance over 50,000.

Regarding the colours. The FA Cup rules were different on colours then and the home team also had to change unless there was an agreement between the two clubs. Everton wouldn't agree so both teams changed. We played in white and they were in yellow.

Attendance that day was 50,514 and was the last time the Turf had a crowd over 50,000.

If I remember correctly Burnley did play in Claret and Blue. It must be the film which only shows everything in black and white.
Stood in the enclosure for that match, which was in the front of the now Bob Lord stand.
Good to see Jimmy Mac beating his man and crossing form the goal line. Brought back a few memories.
Did you notice that Burnley played towards the cricket field stand in the second half which was par for the course in those days unlike today when its the opposite way.

Burnley played in all white. Everton played in yellow and black.

For them, I'd actually forgotten what a good player Billy Bingham used to be, before he went into management.

Great to see that. I went to the previous round against Leyton Orient but my mum wouldn't let me go when Everton were playing. For the younger ones on here there was no 'Jimmy Harris' on the pitch. It was Brian Harris for Everton and Gordon Harris for us. The camera also just failed to pick out a lot.of supporters that were sat/stood on the Longside roof throughout the game; no great emphasis on health and safety in 1962!

The commentary mentioned the supporters on the roof but we didn’t see them.

Wonderful footage of an amazing team. I was too young to see any of them play but the names will always be associated with Burnley’s most successful era.
Interesting to read that some weren’t allowed to go matches involving Everton. Just out of interest, were the parents of the day worried about the reputation of Everton fans in the early 60’s?

My mum wasn't interested in football much despite having three football mad sons. She was aware, however,.of.reputations around the country and read newspapers. There was also a popular TV programme had just begun called 'Z Cars' based in and around Merseyside which highlighted social problems of the time.That was probably enough for her to prevent me going. I was a couple of months shy of my 10th birthday and presumably my dad couldn't.go for some.reason and I don't think my older.brothers wanted.a.9 Yr old tagging along with them. Liverpool, at the time, posed no problem as they were still a 2nd division club and Everton had a much higher profile than their neighbours. Also there was no way of following the game so I just had to wait for the 'ticker tape to provide the result on Grandstand. Heady days!

I think the last 40,000+ gate after the 1962 game was also a.cup tie v Everton in 1967.
Possibly the last 30,000+ gate was Wrexham.6 th round of FA.Cup in 1974. However, I stand to be corrected on both of those.

You would expect that a Lancashire derby in the 5th round of the FA Cup involving two of the best teams in the country might have been covered. I don't recall it and I don't recognise the voice of the commentator.

It wouldn’t have been televised. Only the final was shown on tv back then.

According to Wikipedia there was a Saturday night ‘Sports Special’ programme that ran between 1955 and 1963 on the BBC which showed brief highlights of matches. Maybe that’s where this coverage (and similar to be found on YouTube between those dates) comes from.

That's what I was referring to earlier when I suggested it might have been 'covered. I recall the Saturday night 'Sports Special very fondly. Some great games though admittedly the pictures were grainy. One of my most favourites was one that I heard but never saw. In the early 60's Spurs were away at Birmingham City and the game ended 3-3 after Spurs were leading 0-3. The report at teatime was of a.trememdous fightback by Birmingham with the crowd noise intensifying.after each goal.scored. I so.wanted.to.see.this and .a aged to stay up until.around 10'oclock when I was informed it was bedtime. All I could do.was lay in bed wide awake, try to.picture the goals and listen to the roar of.the crowd. Despite that they were great times and now just getting further and further away as time moves on.

1961-62 Birmingham City were at home in the 3rd round of the FA Cup to Spurs and drew 3-3 . Same day we beat QPR 6-1, I think. Anyway, Spurs won the replay 4-2 and well over 100,000 people watched both games

Great stuff. A glimpse of how good Jimmy Mac and John Connelly were especially for our younger fans. Great finish by Dusty. Also I had completely forgotten that the cricket field used to have padded stanchions almost on the pitch. How times have changed. Think this was the game when the Everton fans at the back of the CFS were throwing opened cans of paint over the Burnley fans at the front. Somebody could have been killed. Crazy but wonderful days

Just watched an episode of BBC’s sports Saturday on YouTube from 1963.The weather had decimated the matches with only 3 games taking place.Strange how the presenter Alan Weeks tells you the score and any major incidents in the game before showing the highlights.
