Tough looking next 5. Anything over 3 would be excellent. 0-3 is my guess

Yes it's a frightening looking next 5, but we sometimes upset the odds when least expected. so here's hoping for one or two of our famed upsets.
Liverpool 0
Leeds 1
Everton 0
Arsenal 3
Leicester 0
I've tried to be objective, but that's why yesterday was such a disappointment, if we'd have collected the 3 points we should have, then 3/4 points from the next 5, would have been a decent enough start, now as it is we're already in danger of playing catch-up for the 2nd season in a row, and the real concern for me anyway, is the rest of the league looks far stronger, and there doesn't appear to be 3/4 teams such as Fulham, Sheff Utd & West Brom that will struggle to put points on the board, so if we're not careful we face the real prospect of being cut adrift at the foot of the league, yes I know it's very early, but as history has shown you need to make a decent start in the PL, and if you give other sides a buffer it's difficult to then haul them in.

Our form at the moment is not great: 13 points from the last 16 games, no win at home in eleven matches and Leeds next up.
Only three clean sheets in those 16 and two of those were vs WBA and Fulham. Those zeros are the difference for Burnley between surviving and struggling. The players need to get back to the basics.

It's just bloody nonsense, play Vydra for 60 mins from the start if he's not quite ready for 90..and get that clear lead

Agree 7 is the optimists realistic. But as has been said, our experience opposed to those around us will counterbalance any panic in the club, which itself gives us the advantage

Yesterday was a huge disappointment.
Brighton are one of the teams we should be taking points from and it just makes games against top ten teams so much more important.
We're fashionably slow starters so hopefully this season we get in the groove quickly and pick up some morale boosting points.

We have several players who have done a full pre season but couldnt last the 90 mins yestetday

In our European season (the one where a team like Brighton will never get close to achieving
) we had one point from the first five games.
We then won the next two but then went on the worst run under SD gaining just just five points from twelve matches thereafter.
We still survived with a bit to spare.

As with Newcastle 2nd half today, but get your 2nd best striker on from the start for christ sake...shocking tactics. And to say Barnes defends well from the front and then concede 2 goals like we did makes absolutely no sense.

People on here are so negative.
I think from these games 4 would be a decent return.
Shame about yesterday. Fine margins and the game was there for the taking in the first half. Another day that would have been a comfortable win... and i think we will have a few of them this year.
I’m going to back us to bring in two signings before the end of the window, and I think Dyche will (yet again!) keep us in the premier league.
At some stage he will leave and I think quite quickly pretty much everyone will realise just how remarkable a job he has done at Burnley.

True1 and last season we only picked up 2 points in our first 7 games, and still stayed up relatively comfortably, however it would be better if we didn't keep giving ourselves a mountain to climb in the 2nd half of the season.

Fair points, and they do say you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone, and this is most certainly correct in the case of SD, and it's particularly telling that those posters who are the most vocal about Burnley getting rid of SD can rarely provide a viable alternative to replace him.
I too think we'll stay up, but it won't be by very much this time. And we do badly need new blood to freshen up the squad.

Funnily enough I'm sure I heard precisely that comment on here this time last season, but as it's you, I'm assuming that's a tongue in cheek comment.
We've often done this throughout our PL tenure, had a shocking run, followed by the odd purple patch or two, that's enabled us to ease clear of danger, and there's no apparent reason why we shouldn't repeat that feat this season, we showed enough yesterday to suggest that we can and will win enough games to keep us out of the clutches of the bottom 3.

IMO this is our weakest squad for some time. Unless we can sign some players who are good enough to go straight into the starting XI then it will be a long long season. A couple of injuries and we are done

Bored . Com been a claret all my life but it is getting tedious watching them. Didn’t get a season ticket and there is no way I am paying for tickets as it stands. I love the day out but it spoils my weekend watching the lack of creativity. Don’t care that we got beat yesterday and I honestly don’t mind if we go down I am just bored with the lack of speed going forward and trying something different instead of hoof ball.

Quite right, so far as it goes. It does however demonstrate that Burnley are far more level headed and consistent than most of their fans.

Difficult to imagine getting many, if any points
from our next 5 games as at present we look like conceding
in every game.
A draw in any of next 5 would be a start but wins are critical in the Premiership
so I'm going for 3 points. A win against Arsenal?

You can’t look at viable options until the question is a reality. Who knows who’s available at that point?

Play Vydra for 90 minutes is a better choice,couldn't believe he was back to 4th choice striker on Saturday
