Team line up announcements pre-game

I noticed on Saturday that the announcer didn't run through the Brighton line up along with ours immediately pre-kick off.
Maybe this was a one-off, given first game back and all, but I really hope this isn't the start of a change of policy. More and more premier league clubs fail to give the line up of the opposition and just pretend there's only one club playing. I really dislike this - it's disrespectful and it's, worse, unhelpful: I like to hear both line ups before the game (I personally didn't realise Duffy was playing until about 10 mins in when the big lummox fell over...).
I've always liked that Burnley have stuck to announcing the opposition then our line up. I hope we can go back to it. Would be keen to drop the club a line if they did it again, if anyone knows how or feels strongly enough to mention it themselves in an available forum.

Seems the operators of the big screen got the numbers 12 and 21 mixed up on the Brighton team.
Caused some amusement amongst the younger supporters in our area of the Jimmy Mac Upper!

I know it's not there much longer but I did notice how much more difficult it was to read with the new font.

We did this a few years ago but they soon stopped it after complaints. I wasn't aware but it's pretty poor doing that, and I agree it's disrespectful.

That's poor if so (I couldn't go on Saturday). Also trust we won't turn into one of those (many) clubs who read out the home line-up in the tone of someone who has just been told they have won the National Lottery jackpot but then switch to full-on funeral director for the away team.

They announced the Brighton team twice before the very last time to be fair. At 2.15 and 2.30ish

He does exactly that when he announces the goal scorers

That's good to know about the earlier announcement, but i'm talking about the immediate pre-kick off one. Appreciate it's not top of everyone's list of concerns (even mine) but it rankles. Possible I see it as indicative of a general unpleasant chipping away at the familiar rituals around matches.

Given that most are outside at 1.45, owing to turnstile process, I agree both teams should be read out.

This has recurred this season & is now worse, what with the advertising replacing the lines ups on the screens, etc.
Given it's a bugbear of mine I emailed the supporter liaison address displayed on the club's website asking for them to change it. Made the same points as mentioned above but added the additional one that, given the recent focus on 'atmosphere' the opposition team announcement is often a moment when the ground becomes more hostile to the visitors. I hate to think that these days I'd miss the opportunity to give the Rovers line up the welcome it deserves immediately pre-kick off.

Absolutely agreed. They should be announcing the visiting team, for exactly the reason you state.
The general antagonism - making Turf Moor "a fortress" (haha) - begins with a bit of good-natured needle for the opposition. Not everybody spends time researching every opposition team in detail before a match, and listing the players is helpful.

We do in the earlier announcement of the teams (along with the away team)
Doesn’t take away that should also be done just prior to kick off
