Didn’t go myself but interesting to see who else played well after Hennessy though.

Nice to hear that Collins looked promising and Lennon looked good.

Hennessey - 10 where did that come from. Superstar performance
Bardsley - 6 was not bad tonight got himself in some good positions
Collins - 7 I really really liked him, surprisingly mobile for such a big lad. He reminds me of Rudiger (Chelsea CB)
Mee - 7 solid
Pieters - 6
McNeil - 6 tried his best but was double marked all night
Brownhill - 6 so frustrating because he is so good defensively, but going forward he needs to dramatically improve.
Cork - 6 I thought he was everywhere tonight.
Lennon - 6 he looked sharp tonight
Wood - 5 felt sorry for him, tried all night but the service he was getting was very poor
Jay Rod - 4 again service was poor but offered less than wood for me

Bardsley 6
Pieters. 6
Mee 6
Collins 7 I like the look of him so far
Cork 4 ponderous
Brownhill 6 extra mark for keeping Maximan quiet
Lennon 6
McNeill 4 frustrating
Wood 4 no service
Rodriguez 3 no service

Barnes 4
Taylor 7 looked our best wide player

Hennessy - 10, never put a foot or hand wrong, 3 excellent saves during the match, 2 in the shootout.
Bardsley - 7 a solid confident performance
Collins - 7 looks good, got out of trouble once when poor touch let in St Maxim, recovered well
Mee - 8 our leader
Pieters - 6 nowt special
McNeil - 7, all round trier but inexperience shows
Brownhill - 7 good 2nd half, crunching tackles on St Maxim
Cork - 6 kept going
Lennon - 7 good 1st half, still has the turns and skill if not the pace
Wood - 6 not his night
Jay Rod - 5 a trier

Taylor -7 a good sub, well timed
Barnes - 6 his normal nuisance value.

I know it's Wales but you don't win 96 caps if you aren't a very good goalkeeper.

If I’m honest it was more down to the fact he has barely played a single game for palace since 2018. After that performance I think they made a mistake

Interesting to see the McNeil scores and no surprise no two games are alike

I've just been reading that his last game was for Palace in the League Cup a year ago when he actually missed a pen in a shoot out. I wasn't there tonight but I suspect I'll see him against Rochdale in the next round.

I think that penalty was at Bournemouth and if I remember rightly, it cleared the stand. Gifton would’ve been very proud!

Hennessey - 9 - kicking was suspect but can’t fault his shot stopping
Bardsley - 6 - Solid
Collins - 7 - Looked composed
Mee - 7 - Didn’t stop talking to Collins all day
McNeil - 3 - Tried, but wasted on the right hand side
Brownhill - 8 - Everywhere and stopped ASM in his tracks a few times
Cork - 6 - Sloppy in possession
Lennon - 7 - Looked lively
Pieters - 5 - Little to no threat
Wood - 5 - No service
Rodriguez - 1 - Didn’t even realise he was playing

Taylor - 7 - looked more threatening when he came on
Barnes - 5 - Could have (should have) had a penalty when Hendrick floored him

Reading the scores it's obvious again that service to the front two needs to drastically improve. Delighted for Hennessey

Unlikely to get in the England team then. Typical.

What are we going to do in our attacking line up. Looking at the reviews it looks like Jay's threat is over. Wood our only real outlet with Vydra? Is Thompson good enough/ ready to slot in?

Looks like we are going to need to set up defensively sound, keep it tight, try to nick a goal from somewhere before seeing the game out and hanging on for a victory.
Sounds familiar to be fair...

It sounds like we have the answer when we play Newcastle- play 3 CM's and Josh marks Saint Maxim

Retained the ball well for long periods. Created almost nothing. Should have lost given the (few) good chances created by Newcastle. Apart from one slip in the 2nd half, Collins looks very assured.

Hennessy 10
Bardsley 6
Pieters. 6
Mee 8
Collins 7
Cork 4
Brownhill 7
Lennon 5
McNeill 7
Wood 5
Rodriguez 5

Barnes 4
Taylor 6

Hennessey 10 - Few clearances were a tad tight in the first half but that's splitting hairs because what a debut. Bet he's rarely if ever had a reception like that from any set of supporters in his career.
Bardsley 6 - Looked his age at times
Mee 7 - Cleared plenty as we relied on soaking UK their pressure.
Collins 7 - thought he was composed and seemed to be doing his share of organising those around him. Steady enough debut.
Pieters 5 - Offered nothing from the more advanced position.
McNeil 5 - Great penalty and a few nice touches but not much else positive to highlight.
Cork 5 - He looked ponderous at times.
Brownhill 6 - The Newcastle fans were booing him. Presumably because he wouldn't shepherd St Maximim past.
Lennon 6 - Busy but rarely a threat.
Wood 3 - Truly awful tonight. His ability to lose the ball and failure to use his size to his advantage were both on display. Took to falling over rather than competing more than once and didn't con the ref. A much better player with Vydra on the pitch but there's little excuse for such a poor display.
Jay Rod 5 - Occasional flashes of quality in an overall meh performance.

Taylor 6 - Whilst Taylor did OK pushing Pieters further forward nullified anything we may have had down that side.
Barnes 5 - Freshened us up a bit and took his penalty well.

JRod 6

Thought we were pretty poor tonight. Quite sloppy in the first half especially. Dwight looked like he was a completely different player to the weekend. But Hennessey was superb. Brownhill had ASM in his pocket (maybe he is just a proper DM? And not a Defour replacement at all?). Taylor made a big difference. And Lennon looked lively.
