Yes he has

"Omelette is a French word, and was first officially used in a French cooking publication, Cuisine Bourgeoisie in the late 17th century although the word 'alumete' was used as early as the 14th century. "

Cornet speaks English unless that interview on the website has been dubbed

I guess Alan pretty much owns the club wallet . I think if a “ low fee” ( let’s face it the price is peanuts in the prem ) and a few million signing on fee ( known as brown envelopes back in the day ) gets up youngish euro prem leaguers I’m all for it .

Not at all. Happens for a vast majority of signings in football.

He doesn't deal with the physical medical or signing. And the player who has signed sometimes has other commitments prior to meeting the manager and players.

Looks like Alan has had enough of what he has seen so far and is getting some exciting players through the door by hook or by crook.

I can see a new manager on the horizon pretty soon that shares his ideas for forward movement, lets hope its a good choice.

I hope not but, if as reported, Sean hasn't spoken to him, it doesn't sound good.

As we know, the ability to kick a ball is not enough for Sean. What's Cornet's work ethic like? Team player? Trains hard? Does as he's told?

We’re not going to have signed someone unless the manger wants them.

It is blindingly obvious we needed to think outside the box regarding signings but it seems this view is not shared by our manager from the outside looking in. Took him two years for Vydra to get a game so lets hope Alan has a plan B if Cornets arse is getting splinters on the bench after the international break.

Not at all. That's how it is done these days. He'd never met Nathan Collins until the first day of training.

Like all players, he'll have to earn his shirt. If he's as good as people are saying, then he should walk into the team.

I disagree.

Both Brownhill and Collins spoke about how they wanted to work with Dyche and how they fit in with his plans etc etc.

Maybe pace doesn’t trust dyche with targeting recruitment which shouldn’t be a problem providing pace identifies the right sort of player he feels dyche can work with.

Ffs. We sign a young international with Champions League experience and people still find something to ******* criticise.

How about a bit of positivity for once? This board has gone to total **** since it became full of entitled liptrembling babies

I cannot comment on Collins, but Brownhill certainly spoke to dyche before signing, whether they actually met is a different issue
I'd be amazed if a player didn't speak to the manager before signing a 5 year deal.

Interesting that is how it works with players not speaking to managers.

Nixon reckoned cornet was a target agreed unanimously by dyche and the owners/board - do you reckon that’s the case. I hope that the owners wouldn’t just sign someone that dyche wasn’t interested in.

If & I’m saying if because I’m not sure but I suspect AP has signed MC without SD expressively being too over enthused about it, why would MC & SD have spoken if it was AP pulling the strings?

I think Pace has been very clear that Dyche is the key with the new transfer committee so although he won't have initially scouted him he'll have done his homework in every sense. He will definitely be a player the manager wants.

In which case that would probably be a dealbreaker for Sean signing a new contract. It certainly didn’t help his relationship with Garlick.

Less than 24 hours after buying a player no one thought, twelve months ago we would even dare look at… beating off competition from within Europe… somewhere we never shop, and miss so many opportunities because of our insular business model, and inept recruitment team… and it’s going to cost us the manager’s departure and Comet will never play.

Incredible.

Today is a fantastic day to be a Burnley fan, notwithstanding 2 points dropped.

It is evidence that:
1. Pace and co can make tough deals happen.
2. We are signing players more ambitiously than before.
3. Having spent the bank balance on the takeover isn’t stopping us buying players (I expect sales in 2022 but that’s ok)
4. Dyche is willing to have a slightly more flexible approach (he must have agreed, as outlined by other posters)

So regardless of whether Cornet delivers, it’s great news - simply no need for any criticism or moaning.

I hope that Dyche gave the nod to the transfer. He’s clearly stubborn, so if a player was brought in without him giving the green light then I imagine Cornet will become accustomed to the tones of the Bob Lorders all season.

I dont see the problem? Dyche has openly said he and others identify players that he feels will fit in to what he wants, then its over to the board to go and land them.

I’m really quite enthused by number 1, honestly. Identified a target, stuck to their task and damnit it upped their price while still trying to save money. Truly impressed.

Don't think it's too important for them to speak prior but I do hope Dyche has been to see him in action, knows what type of player he is and that he's confident he'll be able to fit into our squad & system.
I'm guessing background checks are quite tough for foreign players so that probably took some time. But from the interview he seems a cool, calm lad and speaks some English so that will help. Communication is clearly a key attribute for Dyche in managing.

I am too. Players want to speak to managers, they want to know the plans, they want assurances about playing. They want to know the manager and more importantly the assistant and coaching staff.

Add to this Dyche and his emphasis on culture, then I find it very strange that Dyche hasn’t spoken to the kid.

That’s a very narrow and obnoxious view, that risks alienating members of this board.

I sometimes feel that you have to prove your a fan from the Division 4 days, that you watched Aldershot, in the flesh at Turf Moor, before you can be considered a fan. It’s all a little Royston Vase for the younger generations.
