Why is our away support so poor ?
Re: Why is our away support so poor ?
Playing style
Lack of investment in the squad
Lack of interest - same teams every year now
Normally get beat
No incentives/encouragement from the club
Poor communication on ticketing, it’s all a big secret
Online ticketing system is poor
Generally an amateur operation
Those are amongst the reasons I don’t do as many away games as I did.

Re: Why is our away support so poor ?
There are many reasons throughout this thread but the money footballers earn now makes me feel sick.
The spontanaity of the Longside will never be heard again.
Pay on the day, spur of the moment is almost impossible.
No terraces....everybody could find where they wanted to be on a terrace...a bit like at a gig.
The expense
I love what Sean has done/does for our club but the importance of staying up in terms of money for the club and the manager/players has become more important than the style of football...understandably.
Priorities have changed for people and streaming has taken over.
There are more I would imagine

What on earth are you talking about? Do you ever think before posting? Get it off your chest by all means but just 'lashing out' randomly only exacerbates your undignified approach to what is, essentially, a medium for expressing reasonably, considered views. Anyway, have a good day. I'll try to.

There will still be a lot of people not going on due to the pandemic.

Re: Why is our away support so poor ?
Unfortunately football has dramatically changed over the last 10-15 years, as much as posters on here want to make you believe it hasn’t. There is no such thing as hardcore fans, plastic fans etc…. We are all just consumers of an entertainment product.
A product that is unfortunately becoming more and more expensive to watch.
It is going to come to a point where the only people that attend premier league games are tourists. I believe a lot of games are already like that in the premier league. Especially at the top clubs.

Re: Why is our away support so poor ?
There are various reasons why many have stopped travelling and are starting to drop at home, ranging from cost to the perceived style of football that we play.
Personally I am getting fed up with the fact that our sole ambition is purely to survive in this league where coming 17th would trump a Cup win. At least in the lower leagues we had the buzz of a big match if we drew a team from a higher league, now it’s seen by many as a massive distraction an inconvenience really but to me I would still love to see us in a Cup final at Wembley and yes I would swap going down to win one. I am actually getting to the stage of thinking the football in the championship would be better to watch as the emphasis is on attacking football.

Are you saying you could easily switch your support to another club, especially as you say there is no such thing as hardcore fans?Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 7:27 amUnfortunately football has dramatically changed over the last 10-15 years, as much as posters on here want to make you believe it hasn’t. Re: Why is our away support so poor ?
Well he has already stated on here that he has stopped going to Burnley games so he is perhaps halfway there!

Re: Why is our away support so poor ?
The club website says Chelsea away available to 4000 point ticket holder from 5pm today online. Online ticket site still says 6000 points required as at 6.30 pm. In my opinion this is why fans become a tad disenchanted. We are in London from the 5th Nov for a few days and now likely to book a show for the Saturday as certainty needed.
Re: Why is our away support so poor ?
If you want to go to the game just hang fire. There's not a chance it will sell out. I agree for a Premier League club our ticketing setup is a joke.Coeus wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 6:33 pmThe club website says Chelsea away available to 4000 point ticket holder from 5pm today online. So, let's take man utd as an example. You are seriously telling me that the only people attending are tourists? You've written some nonsense but this really is up there.
sport has always been an entertainment product. You seem to be confusing income generation vs support.

Re: Why is our away support so poor ?
Eh, you believe there are more tourists than home fans at top EPL clubs? ManU are probably the most world-famous club in the Prem, yet they have over 50,000 Season Ticket holders. I wonder where they put your 50,000+ tourists?Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 7:27 amIt is going to come to a point where the only people that attend premier league games are tourists. Your right billy I am sure all 50k season tickets are local fans haha.Billy Balfour wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 7:05 pmEh, you believe there are more tourists than home fans at top EPL clubs? It is regularly discussed across all forms of social media how fans attending premier league games are not your traditional fan bases. The below article was from 2015 it is apparently considerably higher now. For example City now get ridiculous amounts of tourists every game now.

Re: Why is our away support so poor ?
Hang on. You said there are some top clubs where ALL their support came from tourists. I gave you the benefit of the doubt and thought you meant a 'majority. Now you're twisting your own words in a pisspoor attempt to backup your absurd comment. Quite remarkable, even by your low standards.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 7:23 pmYour right billy I am sure all 50k season tickets are local fans haha.
Re: Why is our away support so poor ?
Apart from the fact the article you've linked to say the followingNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 7:30 pmNot what the article says but ok.
Why do you think our attendances are so poor?
North-west England was the region that received the highest proportion of football-driven visits, with one in 10 tourists in the area going to a game
So I'd say that is exactly what the article says

What ! I was there, plenty of fans noisey and one of them punched me in the mouth celebrating the first goal. It was a cracker and the goal was worth celebrating as well.

what difference does it make where someone lives ? Burnley would love to have 4 thousand tourists turn up every game and rightly so

our support was commented on by Dyche in his post match interview, noted how good it was
