Juergen Klopp - The unprofessional One

Did anyone see Klopps reaction to Elliotts injury? Why was he so incensed? The ref gave a red card (wrongly in most people’s opinions) yet he was still acting like a spoilt child.

Reminds me of the Joe Gomez /Ben Mee clash. I think the spoilt brat wanted police action against Ben Mee. It’s totally unprofessional in my opinion.

Wonder what Klopp said to the ref when he illegally entered the pitch before the red card was given.

Guys a d1ck

my guess is he was gutted for a young lad and as is his way acted emotionally. I'm usually right on Klopp's case but on this one I'll give him a pass

Something along the lines of "“Mein Gott Muss Das Sein"

In real time, it seemed innocuous enough but they wouldn't show a replay. Was it THAT bad?

He's been an embarrassment for years now. In 2018 when Origi scored a last minute goal against Everton, he sprinted across the pitch to celebrate the goal with the players. I hope someone doesn't try to tell me that his actions were because he is so passionate, they were the actions of a disrespectful d1ckhead.

They wouldn’t show the reply because of the popped ankle not the challenge. Neville was convinced it wasn’ta red card challenge.

And I’ve just realised I’ve spelt his name wrong…damn phone

The guy becomes a bigger dick every time he goes off on one but in his defence at the time no card had been shown as Pawson had asked VAR to confirm his decision of a red.

He's been commenting on Brexit now. He needs to shut up and just remember its not his buiness. I really wish SD had planted him that night at Anfield

I've seen several replays on twitter and it's just an unfortunate injury, that tackle could be done a dozen other times in a weekend and the injury wouldn't occur again.

The player got the ball, it wasn't reckless just his back leg caught Elliots ankle.

He's already been discharged from hospital though, so I'd assume it's not a major injury that he's suffered despite the twitter experts claiming he'd be out for 6-7 mths

I just can't take him serious with those teeth, I just stare at them aghast that such things fit in the human mouth.
Thousands of years from now when archeologists are digging this generation up, if they dig him up they'll think they have discovered a human sub species.

It’s an awful injury that’s going to keep the lad out for some time. That’s something none of us would want to happen.

But it didn’t look a red to me from what I saw of it but PGMOL Saidten was: “serious foul play due to the intensity of the challenge and endangerment to Elliott”.

I can understand Klopp being distraught, both Salah & Bielsa were. I can even understand him coming onto the pitch to check on his player, but for the life of me I don’t know why he went into a rant on the touchline.

A player, who is barely an adult suffered an horrific injury.

Emotions run high, he treats his own players like family and has such affection for them.

Cannot understand the grief Klopp is getting here at all.

There was an almost identical challenge a few minutes after the injury where both lads jumped up and carried on uninjured.. never ever a red card challenge, just a very unfortunate set of circumstances involving momentum and leg positioning. Get well soon young man..

Looked a decent tackle to me, but every time there’s a tackle someone is at risk… always have been.

Don’t think you spelt his name wrong either. If you can’t use an umlaut over the letter U, then an E is used.

A right to ve upset for an injured player.
Excusable for a concerned manager to go on the pitch to check on the injury and support the player.

To berate ref - NO
To berate 4th official - NO
To demand red card - NO

To act like a dickhead - he can't help it!

Remember when Klopp said there was no need for Ben Mee to make the tackle on Joe Gomez in the corner near the touchline.

Proves what an idiot Klopp is at times.

To be fair, he was probably correct - there was no need for either player to dive in and risk injury to themselves or an opponent as they did.
All part of the game but to have a go at Klopp for being upset by seeing a young lad's season ending pointlessly and in agony like that is more than a bit hypocritical.
As I said earlier, can you imagine the reaction of this board and Dyche if McNeil had been done in the same way ?

But Klopp was also complaining about how we play in the recent game at Anfield as well.

Caused by a, at best, clumsy challenge from behind. We'd be going spare on here if it were one of our lads hurt like that.

I genuinely believe most sensible people on here wouldn't go spare because they would recognise it wasn't a bad tackle. They would just be very disappointed at the injury itself. It was never in a million years a red card offence yesterday.

I'm sure that Leeds will appeal the red card and it will probably be recinded. Not a good tackle, but not a red card one either.

I think I'm in a minority where I do think it was a red card offence. He comes in from behind which is the first issue but his non tackling leg then comes in, studs raised. His momentum turns him as he tackles but he is still at the end of the day a) tackling from behind b) with raised studs and c) being significantly out of control. Whether it's accidental or not, it wasn't a safe tackle.

But then there’s no such thing as a safe tackle when a player makes contact with another. The referee clearly didn’t have a problem with it when it happened as he let the game continue.

Its because of that type of injury that tackles from behind were outlawed.

Interesting to read that "the real Jurgen Klopp stood up yesterday"......What, as in the manager of a side who blew Leeds away and who was rightly shocked at seeing one of his young players needlessly injured ?
Aye, alright then, you know best.

It wasn't a tackle from behind. Unfortunately and accidentally the momentum of his trailing leg caused the injury. It's often the case that innocuous incidents cause the severest injuries, therefore they will always happen from time to time. I think most people who have played the game at a decent level will disagree with the red card.

People still go on about that Lincoln players tackle on JBG like he should have been charged with assault. It was that bad that the player got a yellow card, it wasn't picked up as a noteworthy incident in any extended highlights and the news reports labelled it as clumsy rather than malicious.

Still as its one of our own people get upset and take on a completely different view and perspective as to what the neutrals see

Difference is Klopp seems to bang on about it, week in, week out. According to him, refereeing has gone back 10-15 years.

Can't have it both ways - either let the game flow a bit more like we saw with better refereeing in the Euro's or stop the game for every foul.

I should have added in my previous post, the other problem with it is that the Leeds player is facing away from Elliot for the vast majority of the challenge. He starts to turn away as soon as his slide begins. That means he's not in control of himself or the tackle.

I'm the first to advocate for tackling and more leniency to help the game flow but if you actually look at the rules for serious foul play, then that tackle warranted a red.

And Im suggesting some Burnley fans seem to also want it both ways in the way they moan at Klopp for his overreaction whilst overreacting themselves when the boot is on the other foot.

I think the difference is the overreaction here was because no red card was forthcoming. Klopp is ranting when the match officials have done everything in their power to punish the tackle so what’s his beef?

Im more talking about the Mee incident when Klopp wrongly thought it was a red card and went mad about it. I think there's some hypocrisy or lack of self awareness of the Burnley fans who are still wound up about Klopp for those comments whilst still being upset about the Lincoln players tackle not being a red card

With regards this weekend incident I can understand why Klopp got so involved at the time with his emotions running high but I have not listened to or read any post match comments.

As per my reply to Martin I was more referring to people bringing the Mee incident up. I havent seen Klopps post match comments so can only speak around his immediate reaction which I thought was understandable given the circumstances.

Im not trying to defend Klopp by any means but most managers and fans like to have it both ways depending on what side of the discussion favours them

Yes, but we’re talking about managers here so comparing the reaction of Klopp to that of supporters on a message board is moot. The claim is that Klopp has reacted unprofessionally, supporters don’t (and shouldn’t) carry the same expectation.

We're also talking about different Klopp incidents though.

Some people on this board have criticised Klopp heavily and have a really negative opinion of him because he moaned about the tackle Ben Mee made on Gomez. Some of the same people have the exact same distorted view to a tackle that happened to one of our players that Klopp had for one of his players.

I wasn't talking about the professionalism of Klopp with regards this weekends incident but with regard to him getting upset about the tackle Mee made. Managers getting upset about tackles and moaning about decisions in after match interviews is par for the course and apart from being wrong I dont think Klopp was unprofessional at all in his views around the Mee incident. Biased - Yes, Incorrect - Yes but not unprofessionally.

Your focus is on something different to mine but I have seen Klopp hammered over and over again on here about the Gomes/Mee incident and just took the opportunity to reference the hypocrisy of how some fans talk about both the Mee incident and the JBG incident. Its like they have a completely different take on things depending on which side of the incident Burnley was on.
