Anybody know if visits to Australia are allowed at all at present and if so with what restrictions?

I read somewhere that they will commence flights sometime in November…but not sure of the rules etc!

I doubt it. I spoke to my mate in Melbourne last week and they’re still in lockdown

Don't think even people living there can enter different states at the minute

No you can’t get into Australia unless you are a permanent resident there, and even then it’s difficult
As mentioned above, you can’t even travel between states.
Not expecting to be reopened for visitors until next year (my sister in law lives out there and being kept updated)

I am an exiled Claret living in Melbourne.
Our international borders are closed and will likely remain closed until mid 2022 at the earliest.
As others have posted, we can’t even move around between states and within states currently.
My son, another Claret, lives in Melbourne city area and we haven’t seen each other for months…other than on face time messaging…to talk about Clarets matches.
So…”No” visits to Australia are no go at the moment

Was hoping to get over for a couple of the ashes tests..Looks like that will not happen, although I thought there would have been a chance of the Perth test.

I can't see the Ashes going ahead fully. With the strict bubbles and no family allowed out over the Xmas period.
They might split the Tests up and send different teams.
Say the Test only players playing the first 3 tests then the players who play one dayers as well playing 2 tests and then white ball.
Where they played them I don't know?

Exactly what I would do when booking a trip to the other side of the world. Ask the question on a local supporters website rather than look at the Australian and British Government guidance and rules.

Are you implying that you don’t get factual, reasoned answers on here?

Thanks for the responses people, apart from this arse (bet you're fun in a crowd).
It was posted as a quick check after an office chat.
Nothing serious - not planning to buy a ticket on the strength of this board.

With regard to Covid, Oz is the last place on Earth you would want to visit. Some of the restrictions are hard to believe - familes stranded interstate, not allowed across the border back to their homes and stuck in caravan parks running out of money - individuals prevented from travelling to see dying parents and children - cancer sufferers and others needing urgent medical attention not able to get travel exemptions to travel etc., etc.
A city of 100,000 shut down because of four cases, children's playgrounds and skateparks closed, State Premiers banning golf, ridiculous edicts like 'Masks must be worn whenever you're away from home and cannot be removed to drink alcohol', 'You can have a picnic, but only with five people who have been vaccinated and alcolhol is not allowed'.
Schools are closed and have been for most of the year, children are really suffering and the rule-making politicians don't seem to care.
All this due to a few hundred cases a day and fewer than a score of deaths (and those predominantly people in their seventies and eighties with other serious health problems) It's unlikely that much of this will change soon and it's not a happy place, nor one worthy of a visit.

Ah so you couldn't have quickly searched the official website? Ask a very stupid question and you'll get a stupid answer. Let's consult the bee hole end for official advice, as stupid as it gets!

Ashes lol. We’ll be lucky if they’ll let us go to lower house after the winter. Restrictions coming here soon unless we tell them to collectively **** off this time

It’s like living on a prisoner island.
Some of the rules are absolutely stupid.
Like said above. When we had no covid we were encouraged to holiday across Australia. Except WA that’s basically been closed for 19 months now.
But then we get 12 hours notice of border closures. Then refuse entry back into your home state. Having to camp on the border now for 8 weeks. Losing jobs, failing to pay mortgages, even though these people have tested negative for the whole period.
Melbourne went into full hard lockdown with 17 cases.

We go into snap lockdowns in WA when 1 case appears but the Premier is hugely popular with the electorate because of his hard line stance. Its not going to change in WA any time soon.

The main problem here is that the 7 states and territories run themselves autonomously from the actual Australian government.
The prime minister asked the states several weeks ago to not do snap border closures. They all apparently agreed. Then 2 or 3 cases and slam! The borders closed. WA even to the extent that even though a plane left Melbourne 3 hours before the borders closed, when it arrived in Perth 10-15 minutes late. Everyone on it was told they would have to hotel guarantee at their own cost for 14 days, or go straight back to Melbourne. Even West Australians.

Before I forget to mention it, I have been wondering whether or not to have the covid vaccine - what do you think is best?
