In the mid-90s we entered a quiz at a pub called Hardy's Well at the end of Platt Lane in Manchester, where the gable wall had a freshly-painted Lemn Sissay poem on it called 'Wait Waterless Wanderer'.

I remember Steve Coogan doing one of his one off episodes called Natural Born Quizzers. Two psycho brothers looking for revenge years later after losing a kids quiz show. What they turned into as adults seemed to epitomise, to me at least, the pub quizzer. Apart from the violence, arson etc.

When he didn't turn up one week we called our team (which had a different name every week) "Bob's not here". We got a cheer every time the team name was read out from our opponents.....
