Brighton go top I think, if they win. So yes, could do with them winning, seems they
ain't gonna trouble the bottom 3, if they continue in this form.
Whereas Palace might.

Brighton can go top yes, so you'd imagine they'll be motivated.
Worth mentioning of course that Southampton were flying high at this stage of the campaign last season before spectacularly collapsing, so never say never, but it's hard to see Brighton being in the mix this time.
Palace will probably also be fine, but of the two they are the most likely to be nearer the bottom 3 on the evidence of the first few games.

Is it 5 or 6 games we've played? ... Were Bournemouth top around this time the season they got relegated... Southampton similar but just survived

No Bournemouth weren’t top and Southampton had 7 points after 6 games last season.
Our fans made it clear that both Palace and Brighton would really struggle this season. In reality they will both be on 40 points with 7-8 games left of the season.
Quality recruitment at both clubs

Amazing how the same know it all’s that have Brighton and Palace as safe, have us down… anyone would think they were purely reactionary… and yet they are so quick to attack their own side.

When it’s done from behind with no intention to compete for the ball.

No-one is safe 5/6 games into the season, and equally nobody is relegated,.
Many teams have started strongly and then hit the buffers in this league, Southampton being a notable example only last season.

He may have come from behind but it was shoulder to shoulder… is leaning in to unbalance a striker also a barge?

Just because their shoulders made contact doesn’t make it a fair challenge. Trossard came from behind and just barged Gallagher to the ground with no intention of competing for the ball. It’s crap defending and a clear penalty.

That is the point, no he didn’t. The contact was shoulder to shoulder…. That is a shoulder barge. I’m not arguing if his arm was classed as pushing, or even in this case if it was hard enough to warrant a penalty. I’m interested that shoulder to shoulder contact is now considered a foul not a shoulder charge and the implications of that.

The laws of the game;
The act of charging is a challenge for space using physical contact within playing distance of the ball without using arms or elbows.
It is an offence to charge an opponent:
• in a careless manner
• in a reckless manner
• using excessive force
Trossard wasn’t within playing distance of the ball, he was careless, reckless and used excessive force.

Fair enough about the ball. Poor do when you need a ball to put the shoulder in, preferred it how I played

Still don’t fancy either of them over us tbh. Think both will drop down the league through winter. Potter is a decent coach though, but they are both clubs able to boil over with disputes at any point in the season.

They've been poor tonight, but then they were poor at TM, before we allowed them back into the game.
This is more like the Brighton of last season, plenty of the ball, but no cutting edge.

I always take such opinions with a pinch of salt. Equally, Different players work for different clubs. Cannot say I ever watched Gallagher enough to make any conclusion on him, that would be sound either way.

I've seen several say we should sign him and also that if he came here on loan he'd probably not get used, but I've yet to see any comment saying not to sign him based on ability.
