3rd shirt stock

Now that Autumn is here, camping is unlikely in the 4XL model.

Its bad enough when people are panic buying petrol but when they start panic buying Burnley tops thats another levelhoskinsgoalatswansea wrote: ↑Thu Sep 30, 2021 3:34 pmI’ve just been to the club shop to buy the third shirt to be told they’ve sold out of my size(m). I asked when they would be getting new stock and was told they wouldn’t be getting anymore of that shirt in and once they’re sold that’s it.
I find it incredible that they aren’t looking to replace stock of a popular item that’s selling well.

Likely two reason there won't be more.Iloveyoubrady wrote: ↑Thu Sep 30, 2021 6:39 pmRidiculous move given how popular it clearly is. Really disappointed I can’t buy one if I’m honest.
1) There's will be a minimum order well in excess of how much extra demand there is. Lets say it's 10k min order and turns out 13k want a shirt, 3k miss out. Asking them to order another 10k knowing the majority will go unsold.
2) It's a one off production batch, assembly, fabrics, printing etc all booked well in advance and now that manufacturing workflow is making something entirely different. It's not like turning a tap back on.
And anyone who says they should have ordered more in the first place, they will have years of data on how well the 3rd kit sells and you can't account for a one off hit.

Yes agree with all of your points but it has sold out in 3 weeks. It is clear that they could sell the original amount again over the season so the minimum order will be met. How can a league 2 club even have shirts for sale if the minimum order is so high that we won’t be able to sell our best ever selling shirt.
If we’re honest, it’s business and they know that the home and away shirts need selling so they are trying to sell some now as everyone was choosing the 3rd kit.
It’s a shame because a lot of people are missing out on owning a great kit. Well done to Umbro and the club on that and in future - when you make a really nice kit, make plenty of them...

Alan Pace is a smart, monetizing guy. Most of this decision making will have been in place before his realm and I bet he’s making notes upon notes for next season about the % $$$s he can increase because it looks great on the balance sheet. Next stop, club website!

Re: 3rd shirt stock
I sent an email to the club questioning the size of the initial stock and subsequent decision to not reorder more of a popular product. I received a reply within 24 hours from someone called James Forsyth. The general gist of his reply is that they ordered as much as the two previous 3rd shirts which lasted beyond Christmas, and to now re order more shirts from the manufacturer there is at least a 3 month turn around which will take us well into the season and beyond Christmas when interest to buy is less likely.
I still think there should’ve been better marketing foresight to see that this shirt was clearly going to be more popular than the others. It’s a great looking shirt and also something a bit different to ones we’ve produced in recent years, so was probably worth ordering more. Anyway, below is the comprehensive reply I got from James which I thanked him for.
Good Morning Stuart
Thank you for the email and hope this email finds you well
In terms of the enquiry sorry to hear you didn’t manage to get a M in the third shirt since it has been out and the staff member you spoke with was correct in saying that unfortunately there will be not be a re-stock of the third shirt this year
To give full transparency we ordered the same amount in this year’s shirt as the Green and Black third from 2 years ago and actually more than the Yellow we had last year both of which lasted until well after xmas
We have seen amazing sales this year in the third so of course wanted to re-order and have tried to do this but as I am sure you will have seen or read there is major issues globally with deliveries and freight in general currently, we have been hit by this ourselves already this year with long delays,The lead time of shirts in normal times is 12 weeks that takes us to the week of Christmas and the factory have told us that we could add at least several weeks on to that due to the current situation around freight and they won’t commit to any dates due to this
So that means unfortunately there is not the possibility to get more in which is as frustrating for us and it is you as the shirts have already raised so much money for charity
Hope this answers all the points below
Take care and kind regards

Re: 3rd shirt stock
I don't really see how it was "clearly going to be more popular than the others".
I'm sure the club think they have produced three "great looking shirts" every season.
I'm not sure how the club could have predicted the demand for this when forecasting using previous season's data.

That kit was just much nicer. Helped by having a sponsor with an inoffensive badge. I don’t mind a betting sponsor if it says “spreadex sport” with a nice simple badge and nobody really notices it’s a betting sponsor. It’s the ones we’ve had previously plastered with Chinese lettering and then something like lovebet underneath.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 9:27 amI don't really see how it was "clearly going to be more popular than the others".

I guess it’s all about opinions. I personally think yellow and black have been done to death and this was something different and a lot better, and the sales seem to have shown this to be true by some distance.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 9:27 amI don't really see how it was "clearly going to be more popular than the others".

Re: 3rd shirt stock
I'm not denying it's a nice kit. Also get the point about sponsor's logos. But can the club really have expected it to sell well enough for them to order more than the usual amount (which always ends up being sold off at the end of the season)?Iloveyoubrady wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 9:34 amThat kit was just much nicer. Re: 3rd shirt stock
Odd turn of events in the shirt saga this morning. Went in to the shop with my wife to buy her a shirt, and the girl who works there recognised me and asked if I still wanted an m sized 3rd shirt as a few had come in that morning. Got the shirt and thanked her for remembering me. On my way out got approached by 2 guys that work there but didn’t recognise. They asked if I was the guy who sent the email, and that they’d put an m shirt aside for me. Told them I’d now got one but thanked them anyway. They spent the next 5 minutes chatting with me and explaining the difficulties they have with ordering stock in the current climate.
One of the guys was James, who’d emailed me, the other was Glynn. Unfortunately I didn’t get the girl’s name, but I’d like to thank them all for really excellent customer service.
And if you want a 3rd shirt in M or L get yourself down there now as I think there’s just a handful in stock.

Re: 3rd shirt stock
We look like becoming the last to release and first to sell out at least in the Premier League! Would be interesting to understand sales of the other two as I suspect as mentioned higher up that the money on Season Cards from 2019/20 has meant more purchases. In hindsight that may have been predicted
Disappointing as I will need to think of a different Xmas gift for the two children that wanted one

The former Chairman realised he had more loyalty to $$$$$ than he did to "his" club and sold it to the highest bidder. I recall the chairman saying under promise - over deliver. That’s what I see here. A sound commercial decision judging by the amount they were selling on Saturday morning.

Don’t see any reason to complain. They have obviously put a lot of effort to get them back in stock. I was very disappointed not to get one at first so I’m delighted to get one now.

Just been in the club shop and noticed they have about 6 of the 3rd shirts in stock.

Also only those sizes left online. These things fly off the shelves!

No 11-12 year old shirts for my lad in today or Junior socks for the third kit with no plan to get anymore stock in. - laughable really.
The rest of the store were bog standard and very overpriced for junior products.

Owing to expected poor weather ahead, 6xl and 4xl 3rd shirts have been withdrawn from sale.
They will both be used to provide shelter for thousands, in the Fanzone, pre match.

It is in the sale to clear stock!
If sold. Great.
The season ends in May, with new shirts by July.
It is also possible that matches may end up on TV only.
