Terrible up front after he came off.
Why Dyche didn’t play him for the first four games I’ll never know.

Bizarre we went from a proven strikeforce of Wood & Vydra last season, to then have pre-season and he's dropped. So yeah, I agree, he should have started from the off. It's like Dyche has a spell of amnesia.

I've heard his fitness levels weren't where they needed to be when he returned in the summer. If that's the case then fair enough not starting him - Dyche and his staff will be informed by analytics that supporters obviously don't see.

An unfit Vydra V a fit Barnes ? Come on get real it's because he needs the ball on the floor something that at the moment Dyche cannot get into his head.

Fair enough? But my questions would still be: how do you get match fit without playing matches? And would a part fit Vydra be better than a fully fit Barnes?

I wasn't particularly referring to match fitness but fitness in general. But the way to deal with it is through training, under 23s and substitution appearances. Every club wrestles with this.

Krul almost took his head off. Why didn't the ref stop the game for a potential head injury? he got absolutely walloped.

He was late back, had been on honeymoon and was way behind the others in terms of fitness, but some seem to have agendas and won't believe what the manager tells them when it suits. I still have my doubts about him because I don't think he'll score enough goals at this level but he was outstanding last week and was as good as anyone before he went off this afternoon.
Norwich were concerned about him with their slow defenders so they sorted him out I thought.

I thought Norwich’s tactics were to go heavy on Vydra and early on they did exactly that. He got no protection from the inept Friend.

A half fit Vydra is a vast improvement on Barnes. If we are being honest in many games a traffic cone would have been more useful than AB. At least the cone stays upright as opposed to AB falling all over the place. Vydra might not score loads of goals but being a proper footballer has the ability to get the best out of other players around him.

We didn’t look like stretching them at the back once Vydra came off really. Perhaps the strangest thing was that after Vydra came off, we continued to play balls into, erm, Vydra. But instead it was Jay.
Dyche adjusted that at half time but it didn’t last long and Neanderthal man had a fairly simple afternoon nodding long balls down and what the hell we were doing when we allowed Kabak to waltz the length of the pitch a la Son 2 seasons ago, is anyone’s guess.

The worry is we are going to be so reliant on these two starting the majority of games.

If they produce the stuff, what's the problem? All teams are reliant on pairs of good players.

All the stats and analysis in the world don’t make Barnes a good alternative. So that kinda blows that argument apart. The actions on the pitch are the only proof needed.

The same could be said about Pope, Tarkowski, Mee, NcNeil and Wood. The truth is our success is built on the team not a couple of individuals.

He doesn’t need to. If he creates chances and gels with Wood, as he normally does, and his pace worries defences that’s good enough for me.

Mentioned that going home. Looked bright and controlled a couple of passes hit very hard at him extremely well. Wood very under par yesterday as he has most of the season. In fact, some players looked jaded; was there a 'virus/bug' at the club this week?

This.
They also went I to histrionics after every challenge to make sure we got a lot of cards. 5 cards in a game that wasn't really dirty?
It was clear a tactic and Enemy fell for it.
I used to kind of like Norwich but right now I hope they go down beating Derby's record and fail to win a single game

We've said that about Wood. I wonder if it is a lack of a close season because of the Olympics.

Yep. He’s looked a bit wooden, no pun intended. We’ve seen this before from Wood though and he’s a different player when on his game and looking sharp, and we’ve got to hope that he rediscovers that.

It was a struggle for Vydra yesterday, but it always will be when we are trying long balls upto him constantly, especially against 3 big lumps like they had at the back. We saw the difference when Cornet was on in previous games and we were working it forward more, Vydra was far more comfortable in the game, especially as he gave Vestergaard a nightmare with the balls into his feet and his movement.
Norwich were set up to combat long balls and our set pieces and we didn't adapt or change our style to suit.

Yep, quite frustrating really is our unwillingness to adapt to what is in front of us. We are absolutely rigid in every single game. How we start is pretty much how we finish. I get that we don't have the strength in depth to change drastically, but surely we can change the way we try to get the ball into the danger areas or even change to counter the oppositions offensive tactics?
Remember when we used to pump long balls up to Adrian Heath?

True. But maybe the position that Hendryk used to play would be good as well. He is a fine player but just as he seems to be proving it SD decides to bring back Barnes.

Just not at it currently. Don’t know if he is involved with NZ during this current internationals round but he needs some home time. A Ryan Giggs type international injury would be handy.
