Maxwel Cornet on Harry Potts Way after the game

I'm not sure it's entirely in line with covid protocols, but it was good to see Maxwel Cornet mixing with fans after the game on Harry Potts Way! It's been a long time since I've seen a current player outside the ground straight after a game.

I've been told from someone at the club today that Maxwel has come in and become very popular in the dressing room immediately. A really good bloke is how he was described to me.

His Instagram story made me laugh with him waiting like a fan for Ronaldo at the Utd hotel, then Bailly and Pogba spotting him and going straight over like you do when you see a friend in a bar

It's really good to hear because you need new signings to settle into that dressing room very quickly and he has done, as have the other new signings. There were some fantastic words last week from Defour about how well he was welcomed, particularly by Tom Heaton, and it's the same now. But I was told the lads have all taken to him like a duck to water.

Why? he’s not playing because he’s had a hamstring injury so not likely to be able to “leg it anywhere right now”

He seems really down to earth and will fit in well. I loved the fact he was wandering around in a scruffy pair of jeans, an old charity shop lumber jacket and the Christmas sweater knitted by his nan.

I really feared all the hype with this signing but you can clearly see how much the players like him and how hard he is working with the fans. So far (injury excluded and this is a big caveat) it could be any better.

Agreed. "Variuos social media outlets" are a very good barometer of genuine popularity. Why, it's "obvious."
