Didn't think Norwich brought as many as that personally. They normally have decent away support as well.

I thought the home stands looked quite full too but the performance and continuation of poor results isn’t going to help attendances. It does seem like Pace is concerned by attendances too. The half time ‘entertainment’ needs addressing.

More importantly, the whole 90 minutes entertainment needs addressing too.

5 wins in 27 home games goes a long way to explaining why

I said it a few weeks ago, I’ve never been offered as many free tickets from mates and family, the buzz has gone at the minute and I dont think it’s just the results, I think a lot have fallen out of love with football in general

Some people will only go and watch a winning team and thats certainly not us at the moment.

Crowd look about right to me, including Norwich's excellent following, given their start.

Pace will have been really disappointed today. Would see Norwich as a game to entertain the fans, get a win, and leave them wanting to come back. Instead it made a lot of fans even more frustrated with football in general.

Yes he’s probably disappointed that his “9 for £9” didn’t work, unsurprisingly

I think the deal did work to an extent, ground looked fuller than Arsenal. Problem is that game yesterday probably made a lot of fans less likely to go on again.

Will the 9 for £9 offer have helped Mr.Pace to pay the scheduled instalments to buy the club ?

I have said it a few times on this board. Attracting young fans to the match is the new owners biggest challenge. I used to go with 4 lads from the North east every single home game. None of us have bothered renewing after having season tickets since we were young.
It is just financially not worth it when you can have a few beers at home and put every single match on the tv.
Unless the style and results dramatically change I think attendances will just gradually get worse and worse.
The increase in ticket prices certainly won’t have helped

I thought the crowd was fine for such an unglamorous game in dreadful weather. Carry on with these performances though and it’s only going to go one way.
I think the point above about Pace and the board being unimpressed is an important one. It’s all about the ‘product’.

Be interesting to hear what the take up was with the £9 group offer.
Schools and work places might have benefitted from it but the average fan won't be able to muster such a group.
Just make every seat available for £9 against Brentford and fill the ground. It's desperation times for home form at the minute. We need all the backing we can.

There will always be a core set of fans that go to the games. This will change depending on division to some extent.
In addition, many will go to Premier league games to see a top division game, especially amongst the top half sides.
I'm not sure that young fans, sitting at home having beers watching some illegal stream will be the majority.
To say many don't enjoy watching current performances, there is an inordinate amount of time watching the game and then highlights to pick holes in.
Attendances are probably as expected.

Sounds like a few took up the Group of 10 for £9 each offer. Good for them.
Or else there were some free tickets distributed to local schools. Again, good for them.

If you went on for £9 yesterday you would have to be completely insane to go back and spend £50 on another game.
Unless Cornet plays what is the draw for a fan currently?

So now we are building up one player who has played seventy odd minutes in the Premier League as the only reason for going on.

Supporting your team and you don't have to pay £50. Why quote the highest price ticket?

I missed the match yesterday but couldn’t give my ST’s away which says a lot.
I cannot see attendances improving until we are in another promotion battle as to many the aim of just surviving in this league is not enough especially if the football on show is not entertaining.
Going forward, Dyche has to aim once again to get back to the football we played when we came 7th and not revert to playing it back to our Centre Halves just to pump it forward down the lines.

Does it? So unless Cornet is playing there's no draw for a fan in attending games! Sounds like a true supporter!

It’s not a dig I think it’s just the realities of football nowadays. It used to be affordable and people would attend for the day out.
It’s now got to the point where a day on the drink with match day tickets and travel cost north of £100 just to watch a game of football.
If people are going to be parting with money they want to be at least feel like they have been entertained.

As to how many times we did it yesterday I can’t answer as I was not there as I mentioned in my post when I mentioned that I couldn’t give my ST away, but it is that style of football in general when it get played back to Mee for him to pump it down the line that is hard to watch. The thing is we can play decent football but my worry is we revert more to “pumping” it forward.
I personally would like to see Dwight playing slightly behind Wood with Cornet on one wing and JBG on the other and encourage the players to be more expansive and keep it on the deck.

Unfortunately it's only after the game they can decide whether or not they've been entertained. No guarantees before the game.

But the alternative is to play it backwards and forwards across the back and risk losing the ball. We play the percentages. The long ball can be very effective, especially when the top teams do it!

To my mind the season we finished 7th was a defensive master class rather than us becoming a fluid footballing side.
We finished that season with the worst pass completion in the league, the highest number of headed passes, the most high passes and scoring less than a goal a game. We had fewer shots per game and a lower xG per game than we've managed this season. We created the 2nd fewest chances from passes of any team but the most from deadballs. I don't think our success can be attributed to a decision to get the ball on the floor as we did that almost less than any other team.
By contrast we lead the way in blocks and clearances. We only conceded 15 goals in the 26 games against teams outside the top 6.
We absolutely played better then. At our peak in the premier league we were a phenomenally well drilled defensive unit that ground out wins and kept clean sheets. if we're going to stay up we should be looking to replicate that.

Great post and you are right, but to me we seemed to play to move the ball quicker and did play through midfield more a match I remember was against Watford when Defour, Cork & Hendrick combined really well.
