Sky Glass
Re: Sky Glass
Good idea, poorly executed.
It was fairly mediocre specification wise two years ago. Even more so now.

Re: Sky Glass
I had it as a consideration when I decided I was getting my new tv but there was nothing there to convince me that this was the right option

Re: Sky Glass
They tried to convince us to get it when we went with Sky Q last year.
I pointed out that we don’t have an arial to receive “normal” channels so if our WiFi went down, then we would have no TV to watch at all if we went with Sky Glass and didn’t have a box.
Their advise was to get an arial fitted

I've it.Vincent'sCap wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 9:48 am2 and a bit years on from this orginal post has anyone any up to date reviews on it has it improved got worse or even become absolete I always said I'd try this after it had been around for a while and teething problems had been ironed out.
Had it a year.
Generally pretty good for what tv we watch.
Very very occasionally it freezers if Internet missed a beat but not often at all.
I'm no tv or sound geek. I built mine into media wall and sounds great. Prob could do with turning base down a tad but never do.
Picture is good. Untill dog bangs it with her nose if she see a goal kick, and then it patches ever so slightly in theat area for a couple of seconds

How big is your dog if it’s banging a TV on a media wall, with its nose?alboclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 2:48 pmI've it.

Re: Sky Glass
This. My dish has been redundant for years and I don’t need the latest tv.

Re: Sky Glass
Apologies if I am hijacking the thread. Has anybody got sky stream? This sounds like all the good bits about streaming (ie 4k on more than one tv) but still able to use your own high spec tvs/sound systems.

Re: Sky Glass
Does the tv work from an aerial or from broadband? We have no TV signal so I'm reliant on a Sky dish.
I probably wouldn't like to think I was relying on my broadband signal, though I do use it for general streaming of Netflix etc.
(Sorry, I was meant to quote Boss Hogg there).

Re: Sky Glass
It’s through your broadband, and your concerns are precisely why we went with SkyQ instead when we changeddougcollins wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 7:58 pmDoes the tv work from an aerial or from broadband? We have no TV signal so I'm reliant on a Sky dish.

That would be via internet.dougcollins wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 7:58 pmDoes the tv work from an aerial or from broadband? We have no TV signal so I'm reliant on a Sky dish.

You can, I think, connect SKY Glass to an antenna for terrestrial and Freeview.

Re: Sky Glass
I read they are bringing out an IPTV replacement for Freeview in the event by 2030 they need to start using the frequencies for the next generation of mobile phones , seems to be the way everything is going.
Isn't it going to be frustrating that there will be a 30 to 60 second delay between an event and it being shown "live" on your TV via IPTV ?

Re: Sky Glass
I have the streaming version as I live in an apartment with no dish. It's a decent enough picture, says only HD but looks more like 4k on my LG OLED.
Obviously if Internet goes down it's not working, and I can't record/rewind etc on the box thing.
It's cheap though.
