Retrospective League Title Winners Medals

Manchester City have received permission to obtain retrospective league title winners medals for four of their players, who did not qualify for medals due to rules that were in place at the time.

They will be presenting medals to the players (or their families) this Saturday ahead of our game at the Etihad.

It appears, from the article (see image - an article from The Sunday People) that the Premier League and EFL have now changed their regulations, so that medals can now be obtained for players that missed out.

There are three Burnley players, Ian Lawson, Trevor Meredith, and the late Billy White who did not qualify for medals under the old regulations in 1959/60, but played at least 5 matches.

Now that the regulations have been changed, I think it would be a magnificent gesture if Burnley FC was able to replicate this gesture for these players, who contributed to our title winning season.

Wasnt Bobby Seith given a "late" one a few years ago?

I believe that the previous rules to qualify for a medal players had to have played in at least 12 games of the season

He was. He'd played 27 of the 42 league games and qualified for a medal but he'd had that fall out with Bob Lord who refused him one.

As for the others. I always believe you play to the rules as they were and don't try and change history. They weren't entitled to medals. And why not throw in Jim Furnell, Billy Marshall and Gordon Harris who also played?
