Re: ARTICLE: No immediate safe standing at Burnley
Excellent news that there is a trial or excellent news that we aren’t involved?

Ha ha - he was just being himself I think with his response.
From my point of view, and that of BFC SG, it is definitely excellent news that the trials are going ahead. It's also no surprise that we are not involved at this stage.
Re: ARTICLE: No immediate safe standing at Burnley
If you can name a part of turf moor that would currently be suitable for the trial I'd love to hear itClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 3:52 pmHa ha - he was just being himself I think with his response.

Don't forget.... Treat people like adults and with respect, thats what you agreed dyche was good at, just for once, please, treat me that way. Thankyou.

Can’t see this working myself. English football fans have shown time after time that they can’t be trusted to behave themselves.

1. It's got nothing to do with behaviour.claret2018 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 4:17 pmCan’t see this working myself. English football fans have shown time after time that they can’t be trusted to behave themselves.
2. Fans stand already, this would just make it safer and also allow those who wish to sit to do so and still see the game.

THIS 100%. So much wrong with the “culture” of football in this country.claret2018 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 4:17 pmCan’t see this working myself. English football fans have shown time after time that they can’t be trusted to behave themselves.
Re: ARTICLE: No immediate safe standing at Burnley
Plenty of fans stand already, I don't see why there'd suddenly be an increase in trouble?claret2018 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 4:17 pmCan’t see this working myself. English football fans have shown time after time that they can’t be trusted to behave themselves.
Re: ARTICLE: No immediate safe standing at Burnley
Its excellent news that its being trialed, and in the correct stadium it will be a welcome bonus for someClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 4:07 pmWhy is it excellent news but also excellent that we are not involved?
However, in my opinion our ground, currently,is not suitable.
So, excellent news in the trials, and excellent news, that at present we are not part of that trial.

Re: ARTICLE: No immediate safe standing at Burnley
Absolutely, all this would do is
1. Make standing safer
2. Allow those who wish to sit to do so.
Any other suggestion shows a lack of understanding of what this is about and what clubs/fans/league are trying to achieve.

Re: ARTICLE: No immediate safe standing at Burnley
For me the most logical place for safe standing would be Longside Lower tier, but I am unsurprised we are not involved as I think the new board have enough on their plates this season without volunteering for extra workload.
Would be great to see it happen, it would presumably offer a more affordable alternative to quite a few fans who struggle on low incomes and help fill the ground with fans who otherwise the club miss out on through the season, and help the club re-connect with town proper.

Yeah because crowd trouble doesn't happen in any other country does it?claret2018 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 4:17 pmCan’t see this working myself. English football fans have shown time after time that they can’t be trusted to behave themselves.
Sick of English football fans getting labelled as the only hooligans around. It goes on every where. Unfortunately these tools pick football as their excuse to meet.

Re: ARTICLE: No immediate safe standing at Burnley
If it works then great, but along with the idea of drinking while watching the match it seems to be a backward-looking idea that the clubs want because they can increase revenue.

Football has been far more pleasant to watch live in the past 20yrs or soclaret2018 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 4:33 pmIf it works then great, but along with the idea of drinking while watching the match it seems to be a backward-looking idea that the clubs want because they can increase revenue.
We have to be very careful bringing back the two things that have allowed it to be a far more pleasurable experience
I will never be in favour of drinking in the stadium, pointless other than revenue
Safe standing, if done right might work, but not next to opposing fans

Re: ARTICLE: No immediate safe standing at Burnley
I think the return to drinking while watching movement goes against everything society is doing… no public drinking curfews that towns operate. I also struggle to understand how there is any need: you don’t get to take your drinks into the house at the theatre, the bell warns you to sup up or leave it and between intervals are often longer than 45 minutes.claret2018 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 4:33 pmIf it works then great, but along with the idea of drinking while watching the match it seems to be a backward-looking idea that the clubs want because they can increase revenue.
I am all for safe standing it is a way of offering an option for those on a budget.

Re: ARTICLE: No immediate safe standing at Burnley
Would it be cheaper? Again, if so great but I can’t see PL clubs missing out on an opportunity to get more cash

I think you are living in a different world if you think there will be cheaper tickets.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 4:43 pm

Re: ARTICLE: No immediate safe standing at Burnley
I regret to say fully understand your point. One can hope, even ‘safe’ standing requires less room than sitting and so there is an offset in the increased attendance opportunity.claret2018 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 5:02 pmWould it be cheaper? Re: ARTICLE: No immediate safe standing at Burnley
I think someone asked the question about safe standing on the price of football podcast a few weeks ago on whether it will increase the attendance but I think its 1:1 ratio so lose a seat and gain a standing place. There was hope for maybe 1:1.1 to try and get some increase overall but I don't think that was agreed. And price unlikely to be better! That's how I remember it anyway

Re: ARTICLE: No immediate safe standing at Burnley
No increase in capacity wherever we did it at the Turf, if we do actually do it at sometime. It seems some don't really understand what it is about but there will be the opportunity for one person to stand when otherwise one person would sit,.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 5:16 pmI regret to say fully understand your point. Some grounds would be different. I think the wall at Dortmund has been set up to allow two people to stand where one would sit but that would require specially designed areas.

Can't see this happening at the Turf for some time to come but it's a welcome development.
Re: ARTICLE: No immediate safe standing at Burnley
Any tickets currently sold for the Burnley side of the Cricket Field stand should contain formal instructions that ‘you will probably need to stand up to watch the game in this section of the ground’.
This should help prevent ‘disputes’ occurring when ‘new’ CFS attendees try and settle into their rather expensive ‘sit down’ seat.

Re: ARTICLE: No immediate safe standing at Burnley
Clubs have to be careful with ticket sales and cannot suggest there are standing areas. We do however warn people that those in the cricket field stand do tend to stand.Mala591 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 12, 2021 10:23 amAny tickets currently sold for the Burnley side of the Cricket Field stand should contain formal instructions that ‘you will probably need to stand up to watch the game in this section of the ground’.
