Have been with Virgin for about 10 yrs and have their ultimate package - superfast BB, a million channels (mostly garbage), all Sky Sports inc BT, Sky movies, HD, multi-room, anytime landline plus an unlimited mobile SIM. I pay £99 pm but they gave me £100 credit at the start of the 18 months, so effectively it's £93.50 pm.
The contract ends in early Jan so looking at better/cheaper options.
Looked at SKY today and a comparable package seems to be about £90 without the unlimited SIM so hardly a better deal.
Anyone know better?

Black Friday is coming up ...Firstly, do you need anytime landline? Does that change the pricing? Secondly, all being well having an unlimited sim but do you truly use unlimited data and whats the coverage like? Have you any additional SIMS on the account that you are paying for? Look at the advantage of Sky Mobile....I could go on but at the end of the day you have to do whats right for you....

When I lived in Burnley I had Virgin Internet and it was perfect. Hardly ever went down. Then I had to move to Sky as Virgin wasn't available. Then moved to Talk Talk. It's a minefield as the only way it seems of me getting a good deal with Sky is if I threaten to leave. I'm paying around £90 without Internet (so add £25 onto that), and all I have is Sky main channels and Sky Sports.

Don't believe that for a moment.....Sky Sig is £26 and sports is £28 so unless you have HD, Multiroom and other packages then you are out of contract and paying OOC prices (even then that's a stretch....

I only have a tv deal with sky, I have all channels sports and movies in HD and I pay £32.

They gave me a 5 year deal about 3 year ago which was £30 and it has gone to £32 a few months back. You are being fleeced

I am out of contract. It's a rolling monthly one. Hence why I said, 'Threaten to leave'.

But when I last called up, it was still a crap offer, so I stuck with it for a while longer.

I know for sure that once my virgin deal is up I'll be going back to Sky. Much prefer Sky's set up etc. Virgin broadband been very good so far though.

So they have offered you a deal but yet you complain you are paying too much....the mind boggles...also, all you need to do is move to Q and get a mini box...would still be cheaper...oh but anything to give you something to complain about!

Paying around £110 but that includes full Sky TV with sports and films plus BT Sport and Netflix.

I had a look at renewing my contract online yesterday. The prices appear to have been simplified. Think it was Sky Ultimate, plus Sky Sports, Netflix and Ultra HD for £63. I could also add on films for £11. I'm currently paying £75 albeit with multiroom.

I've just had a leaflet through from 6gInternet offering 6G 100mb for 15.99 a month. That's for the first 6 month then £21.99.
Says no landline needed.

Sky Glass is defo a game changer but make sure it is for you before you take the plunge.....if you ever do cancel Sky then you would have to get an external freeview box. The actual product itself is awesome in its concept but I would advise going to a Sky Retail location to check it out for yourself first...the Sky Glass works best with at least the minimum Sly package of Sky Ultimate....

I really like the look of the Glass. I was under the impression though that it had an inbuilt Freeview receiver; does this deactivate if you cancel Sky? Also, do things like Netflix and Prime apps stop working if you cancel your Sky package?

I'll get some more info together tomorrow after my training but my understanding is that there is no inbuilt freeview receiver. Other apps should still work if you cancel your package as would probably log in via the wifi and there are HDMI ports on it....

I pay £62.50 a month for sky q 2tb and multi room (1 x mini box) with Netflix, movies and sky sports.

Pay £19.99 for my broadband with BT but it’s only 30mbs as that’s the max we can get

Virgin basic internet package - £33 a month

IPTV - £60 for the year.

I've seen their masts going up in and around Burnley. I think their full price point is too high. You can get fibre and a rock solid 80mb, including line rental, for £24 pm. A saving of a couple of quid pm, to go full-fat Wi-Fi, isn't really worth it.

So, looking at the replies that are specifically relevant to my OP, it appears that the full monty I'm currently getting for £93 ish pm is about right/the going rate. I'm going to leave it till January and see what VM have to say then. Thanks all.

I've just ordered Virgin. Full package, all channels Inc movies and sport, multi room, 600mb BB, landline and mobile sim. 78pm 18 month deal. My only real gripe with Sky is, in bad weather, I always lose the picture. Worth calling Virgin and asking for the same.

Just renegotiated with Virgin and got exactly same deal for 18 months at £10 pm cheaper, guaranteed no price rises in that time.
Let it go to within 30 days of end of current contract, asked to be put through to cancellations (30 days' notice) & hey presto !

If you do then decide to leave Sky you will need to purchase a freeview box as there is no tuner in-built to the TV. In addition, like Virgin, if you lose your internet you lose your TV programming. Also, it does not have a 'record' facility, effectively you add stuff to your playlist and stream it from there...

That changes things....the one major change that Sky have brought in with Sky Glass is that there is only a 31 day rolling contract not locked in for 18 months...whilst I appreciate they are making it harder....let's say for example you take the Glass over a 3 year CCA.....I suppose if you were to leave, then to buy a new TV after 3 years is no biggie.....or if it is a bedroom then a freeview box ain't the end of the world....

All I'd say is that both are infinitely better than Amazon Prime for football coverage.

Tried watching today, Can't bear the female commentator at Watford, or the co-commentator one at Palace and then the picture quality from Southampton is very poor like looking through a window with rain pouring down the glass, weird!
