Is Sean Dyche the most underrated manager in the Premier League?
A couple of weeks old, so not sure if this has been posted already, but Tifo put together an interesting video on Dyche's tactics:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOMeyuLk1uo
Gets a couple of details wrong (for instance that Ben Gibson is still on loan at Norwich), but overall a really interesting watch if you have a spare 15 minutes.

I think he is just rated.
Everyone knows what he is about and what he has achieved. I think everyone just realises this is probably his level.

Re: Is Sean Dyche the most underrated manager in the Premier League?
SD is certainly among the better managers in the league given our resources, sadly some of our fans can't see this, or have unrealistic expectations about what constitutes success for Burnley.
I truly suspect it'll only be when SD eventually departs BFC that some fans will finally come to realise just what a good job he has done and continues to do with us.

He's ours, and staying that way so I don't care what others think of him. Ignore him at your peril. They all know that

Probably not. Possibly too reactive instead of being proactive.

Re: Is Sean Dyche the most underrated manager in the Premier League?
No to be honest I don’t. He’s very highly thought of and rightly so among those involved in the playing side. He was given the U21 training job because of his reputation even prior to the miracle he helped manufacture at Burnley. The question is not what SD has done or can do but how will he operate at a club that backs him to the level he his not hamstrung by available options. I think it is a question that we all hope the next few years will be closer to be answered.
Re: Is Sean Dyche the most underrated manager in the Premier League?
I think he is very highly rated, sometimes not by us after a defeat or poor performance, but other managers and pundits hold him high esteem.

Probably, but who is Watford's manager this week?

Re: Is Sean Dyche the most underrated manager in the Premier League?
To quote Simon Jordan who speaks an awful lot of sense he is the "glue" in BFC. He has achieved results with his hands tied behind his back. Ironically this season the ability of keeping a small town club in the PL for more than 6 seasons has never been a tougher challenge, and I feel the tipping point may have been reached. This may well be the season the challenge became just too much, through no fault of his own. Great pity the takeover did not happen 12 months earlier. I really dislike his over loyalty of certain players and his stubborness and inflexibity, but he gets the best out of some very ordinary players and I would not swap him for anyone.

Re: Is Sean Dyche the most underrated manager in the Premier League?
No. Potter, Moyes, heck even Bruce are all better than their reputation suggests. Dyche is good but not great, he has done very well keeping us up but its not the miracle some suggest.
Last time I looked we had about four sides paying lower wages than us, including Wolves if I remember rightly.

Re: Is Sean Dyche the most underrated manager in the Premier League?
Well if he keeps Burnley as a lower end PL side for the next 4 seasons I'll be more than happy with his management.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 8:48 pmI should clarify Burnley in the premier league. I think his level low end premier league.
And all things being equal, I.e. we don't get a billionaire investor as Newcastle have acquired in the past few days, that's roughly Burnley's level as well, we might in a good season overachieve, but in 3 of Sean Dyche's PL campaigns with us we've finished between 15th-17th, which is where I'd place us in the current pecking order TBH, of course in a bad season that means we may then likely will be relegated, but that's true of several other PL clubs.
Re: Is Sean Dyche the most underrated manager in the Premier League?
I think Moyes probably takes that title.

Re: Is Sean Dyche the most underrated manager in the Premier League?
Moyes is a good shout, but on balance I'd have to go for Brendan Rodgers, both have worked wonders though on relatively small budgets compared to what other clubs spend in the market.
Thomas Frank might prove himself over the next year or two, and he along with Graham Potter are probably the ones most likely to attract the interest of the bigger clubs, mainly because their football is easy on the eye more than anything else.

Sheff Utd outspent us in the transfer window.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 9:37 pmNo. Potter, Moyes, heck even Bruce are all better than their reputation suggests. Dyche is good but not great, he has done very well keeping us up but its not the miracle some suggest.

Wolves have that odd scam with Mendes going on
Norwich is to be expected, they've stated they're content with being a top 26 club at present.
Watford - I expect that to change.
Sheff Utd, Wolves and Watford all have confirmed* debts higher than ours by a massive amount.
Dyche has kept us up with low spending and a reasonably low wage bill.
*We await the financial confirmation for ours after the buyout.

If Graham Potter gets Brighton into Europe would you regard him as a better manager than SD?Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 15, 2021 7:28 amQuite clearly the whole footballing world given barely anyone was interested in him over the past few seasons

Re: Is Sean Dyche the most underrated manager in the Premier League?
Dont think you can compare Potter & Dyche. I cannot see Potter having lasted at Burnley for the period Dyche has, or kept us up for 7 years. Having said that I think Potter has proved himself as very astute. Has built up a great team and squad (very welll supported by the owners financially). They are very organised, good defensively and Potter is a good tactician. He is definitely one for the future. Can see Brighton finishing in the top 10 or slightly higher-thats a big improvement on last season, but with the money they have spent they should be in that position

Difficult comparison, I suspect Potter will end up at higher level than Dyche will long term. If Potter gets them into Europe I suspect he will be lined up by one of the big six.
He plays a fantastic brand of football.
Dyche is a great manager I just think he has probably reached his level and that is Burnley in the premier league

If Dyche had 60-70 million to spend and was able to bring in a few more Defours and Cornet's, do you not think we'd be pushing the top 10 again?
If Dyche left us for Everton, then his level would be the top 7, if he left for Man City then his level would be the top 3.
There's no such thing as a 'Burnley level' in the Premier League.
Re: Is Sean Dyche the most underrated manager in the Premier League?
In answer to the OP No. Has he done a great job here with limited resources ? Yes. Would he get this time at another club ? No. Would he be allowed so much control at another club ? No. Would another much larger club come in for him ? Not so sure but if they did I doubt he would last long. He’s a good fit for Burnley ( along with his coaching team) and I think we are for him. Anyone in football thinks he’s done well with limited resources.

Re: Is Sean Dyche the most underrated manager in the Premier League?
In comparison to the other managers mentioned, Dyche is the only one who hasn’t been tested - and failed - at a big club. So his potential is unknown. Potter is a possible exception- but their spending puts them in the top 15 in Europe.
