Sir Michael Caine has retired from acting.
Over 160 acting credits
2 Oscars and other awards.
Over 60yrs in the business and 20th highest grossing film star at $7.8 billion.
That's not bad for someone who originally took a job as an assistant stage manager with the occasional walk on part in a theatre

You know, I'd almost forgotten what your eyes looked like. Still the same. Pissholes in the snow.

I'm no sort of film buff but I've watched that film 5/6 times over the years- always spot something new to admire in it.Billy Balfour wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 10:16 amYou know, I'd almost forgotten what your eyes looked like. Still the same. Pissholes in the snow.
As well as "pissholes" I also remember the line: "You're a big man but you're in bad shape..." scene. Of course, also the telephone scene with Brit Ekland and the naked with shotgun on doorstep scene. Good for spotting other (at the time or later) well known actors.
Zulu wasnt bad either.

Great autobiography too , and read by MC himself ( the audio book I mean not Caine in the front room ! )
I’ve loved his later work too in Christopher Nolan films , he was brilliant in the Prestige

He deserved his VC for Zulu!
A fine career and understood film, which is totally different to stage.

I believe he has since clarified that he has not retired from acting! So you never know -- we might see him in a few more films yet.
