Favourite for the final as he is the highest seed left in. Also now number 17 in the rankings. If he wins tomorrow he will only be about 100 points behind the 9nth player in the race for wherever they are instead of London. Milan I think. 9 goes through as Nadal is injured. Would be brilliant if he gets in.

I think he is 5th in the number of games won this year. The slams he has lost have been against Nadal and Federer so he's had an excellent year. Gone about his business quietly and now our number 1. I don't think I can remember us having so many decent players. Shame Konta has been injured for the last few months or we would have two top women in the 20s as well.

More kids playing now and, thanks to Emma, more money being put in to improve the courts around the country.

After what seemed years until Henman arrived, we've produced some decent players.
Think Murray & his mum deserve some credit in recent years by poking at the ruins that was grass roots in the UK.
More money filtering down to where the money is needed most. More chances for youngsters to play.

Wish they'd find some way of doing similar to footy, instead of the untold millions the game generates being whisked off to private bank accounts in the adult playgrounds of the world.

British tennis generally seems to be in a good place right now, and we will need someone to take over when Andy Murray finally hangs up his racket.

Also hopefully Evans & Norrie can push each other on to greater heights, both have rapidly shot up the rankings, and it's not a surprise to see them competing at the business end of tournaments these days.

Not doing well tonight against the biggest hitter on the tour. Lost the first set and a break down in the second. I'm hoping the other guy can't keep this up. Just broken back so hopefully he can sort himself out. This is his 7th final this year and he has won 1 up to now.

The boy is back, for the time being. Won the 2nd set. Hope he's ground the opponent down.

Norriebwins in 3 sets. What guts. He was getting hammered but turned it round.

Great achievement for this guy, obviously worked very hard. Before we get too carried away about tennis development in the UK, he's only represented us from age 17. If there's any credit to be handed out before then it's for New Zealand. As with a few others before him, there's more money from funding and sponsorship available here, which is a good way of luring top talent to 'Team GB'. But it's not necessarily the same as seeing results from grass roots funding, more akin to signing promising or big name players in football because we've got a bigger budget.

Yes. Murray mum agitated at home and Andy invited Brits to his Florida home to practice.

Andy's one man Davis Cup win also helped inspire those lesser team mates to rise to the occasion.

Credit to those players who are building on the Henman/Murray legacy.

It'll be a slow process, Notts.
We rarely had a male player and few female players in the top 100 after the 70s!

The Spanish & French overhauled their grassroots coaching a good while back now, and were eventually rewarded with lots in the top 100. Particularly male players. Back in the 90s there were voices saying we ought to do similar, that the LTA were dinosaurs. Nothing much was done, even when Henman appeared.
At least the Murray's have shaken things up.
Guess we'll not know for a while. But we do seem in a better place now.

Norrie moves to 16th in the world having started this year 74th, is the new British number 1 and has a chance to enter the year ending ATP Finals.

Important to stay in the top 16 for the seeding system, getting to the 4th round of every grand slam in 2022 will help preserve his ranking then a top 8 opponent to get into the QFs.

Flip side of that, to prove the point, it seems every tournament the unseeded Murray plays at the moment he gets one of the top seeds very early on so has little chance to build ranking points despite still being good enough to push them hard.

Long road back for Andy, however, he is the one to back for a top ten.
