Did fine for us at Championship level. He wasn’t my favourite, but played his part. The City goal an obvious highlight.

I will never forget that great goal against City, enjoy a long retirement George, he always gave 100% when he played for us.

If you look at that era the intensity was frightening - Boyd, Arfield, Marney, Ings, Trippier and Kightley

Technically we are undoubtedly a better squad now but if there was a way to combine that with the raw energy of first incarnation Dyche group I would feel a lot more confident than I do at present

Clinging to the hope that a fit and available Cornet is a get out of jail platinum card

I didn't mind Boyd, wasn't the most technical player but you knew you'd be getting 100% the majority of the time just from seeing his running stats.

Did us well, and from the looks of it had a reasonable career.

I wish him well in his future endeavours

I agree it is obvious that we have a much better footballing squad now, but two of those you mention, ings and trippier, were top players who gave us moments of quality to allow the workhorses to grind out results. Now, it must be said that the standard of the league is higher IMO, and we need more than just workhorses to compete. I think our squad is quite good really now, but the lack of form from our strikers, weakness of central midfield at times and individual mistakes are making this season very difficult.

Agree, but worry that a fit and available Cornet won’t be enough to pull this lot out of jail. A class full of 14 year old schoolboys couldnt pull this lot out of the **** we are in now….

Massively suprised by Boyd when he first arrived. From all the media hype around him during his Peterborough days (SoccerAM used to love him) and seeing him a few times when they llayed at Turf - I thought we was getting an out and out flair player.

In fact what we signed it was almost the opposite, he was an absolute workhorse and a very clever footballer. Really pleased we signed him in the end for a completely different reason. Top player and what an engine!

One of the few quotes from Steve Bruce that were worthy of note (at the time we bought GB):

Bruce said: "George Boyd is someone I was tempted to keep. He is such a great lad, a great pro and easy to manage. It was the little things with George.

"He's a wonderful lad. If your daughter came home with him, you would be delighted. He is such a great lad and a really good person.

"After the Cup final, he came up and shook my hand.

"He said, 'I never thought I would ever get anywhere near a Cup final, can I buy you a beer to thank you'. Things like that say a lot about George."

I've got good memories of his time with us. Never gave anything less than 100%, scored some nice goals, and came across as a really good guy. He was a big part of our recent success and for that I'll always be thankful. All the best to you, George!
