Re: Ian Woan interview
Was going to post this myself but didn't know how to share a link. I'd forgotten what a decent team Forest had for a spell in the mid 90s. Always remember Woan scoring a cracker against Newcastle, think it was the year the Geordies blew the league.

If Ryan Giggs hadn’t been around at the same time, everyone would’ve raves about Woan. He was my favourite winger growing up. Wonderful player and what a left foot. He was David Eyres at a higher level.

Enjoyed that as a read. Their gaff in Whalley is made to sound like a bedsit in bedsit land, a la the Soft Cell track.

Re: Ian Woan interview
A good read, Woan seems content with life, has Clough tales to tell and seems to enjoy life with Dyche and Stone. But don’t mention David Platt to him!

Re: Ian Woan interview
I like the bit about Sean Dyche being called upon to sweep the leaves up at Brian Clough’s house.
Ian Woan
Very good article in the Guardian online about Ian Woan. Mainly about his time at Forest under the great one. Some good comments about proper clubs of his playing days and the connect to then local fans. Dyche of course was there and is referenced.

Was friends years ago with someone whose dad was high up at Crewe and he said Platt was despised there although they always had to roll the red carpet out for him.

Really good article. Sound guys all.
That era makes modern money drenched football look so synthetic.

Not really great form to assassinate the character of someone you’ve never met on the basis of 3rd hand here say.Cleveleys_claret wrote: ↑Sun Oct 31, 2021 6:57 pmWas friends years ago with someone whose dad was high up at Crewe and he said Platt was despised there although they always had to roll the red carpet out for him.
Anyway it is possible to day that Platt was a fantastic player who had a great career.

Good read…thanks for posting. Imagine the reaction of today’s prima donnas if they were told to go and sweep up leaves!

Re: Ian Woan interview
I have actually met him several times, hence the conversation I had with a friend who reaffirmed my views and from the point of view of someone who knew him a lot better than me and the passing interactions I had had with him
