Funnily enough I listened to "Dark Side of the Moon" over the week-end and I was transported back to being that 16 yr old Lad who bought the album and sat with headphones on listening because Mum and Dad hated my music ...

Good innit 😁

Astral Weeks, hadn't listened to it for years until recently. Probably Van Morrison's best work.

Not even my genre but a brilliant album that crossed over to the mainstream. Enjoyed watching Skinner come back under the Street's brand over the last 2 years

Anyone ever heard of Home? I listen to their second album occasionally and it is stunning. They were tipped for big things but only made 3 albums in the early 70s. It’s titled just Home (odd for a second album). Great stuff, free flowing and occasionally intricate. Saw them as a support band originally but they were fantastic. Drummer and lead singer/pianist are both long dead but guitarist Laurie Wisefield went on to spend about 12 years in Wishbone Ash and still gigs. Bass player Cliff Williams has recently retired after spending 40 odd years in AC/DC (who bear no resemblance at all to Home). It’s downloadable on iTunes if anyone wants to give it a go.

Funny you should mention this as I've just come back in the house after working in the garden and listening to Joni Mitchell's 'Ladies of the Canyon'.
Here's this magnificent album's closing track, 'The Circle Game'.

All these albums like ten years after, led zep etc, was the stuff all the dull crowd listened to at school, whereas the cool kids were into soul and going to the wheel and the birdcage in Ashton under lyne.

I've spent most of the day boarding part of our little loft, just moved down sized, I wanted some weight on the boards so the missus thought some album cases so we just had a look, 2 hours ago. They can't go in the loft I go along with the early post Paul Simon then Harry Chapin saw him twice BRILLIANT!! all my Bowie stuff oh Gallagher and Lyle stay put so does Boz Scaggs so I have decided NOTHING IS GOING TO THE LOFT.

At the risk of turning this thread into a Pink Floyd appreciation club, personally love Animals and Meddle, either one is superb :)
As an alternative either Night at the Opera. or Day at the Races by Queen
or Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield

I had that. I still listen to about four tracks from it:

I'll add Wally, album called Wally. Similar history to Home, a couple of albums then no more. However they had a reunion in 2009 which produced a DVD and CD. Sunday Walking Lady:

Never before in the history of mankind has the story been told of those brave frontiersmen who carved out a passage in the Northwest and made it a place fit for heroes to live in.
This is the story of one such man, "sausage tosser" extraordinaire, his name – Fred Ackroyd.

("Chorus")
Oh It’s hard being a cowboy in Rochdale.
Spurs don’t fit right on me clogs.
Yee-haa
Hard being a cowboy in Rochdale,
Cos people laugh when I ride past on our Alsatian dog.

Almost every night
There’s a tripe and cowheel fight
In our local pie and pea saloon,
And poor old Uncle Fred
He spent 18 months in bed
Cos he tried to kiss a girl who’s a boy called Sue.

CHORUS

When the sun shines in the west,
That’s the time that I like best,
And I go out punching cows with me brother Jack
And poor old Uncle Fred,
He spent 18 months in bed
Cos he punched one cow and she went and punched him back.

CHORUS

In the local Temperance bar,
We’d go and have a jar.
There’s sarsaparilla and liquorice juice to drink
And poor old Uncle Fred,
He spent 18 months in bed
Cos he supped the stuff they use to clean the sink.

CHORUS

Yer know when us cowpokes hits town,
We go and horse around
With them good-time girls in the house of Mucky Peg.
When Auntie Kitty found Uncle Fred,
He spent 18 months in bed
Cos you can’t run fast with your pants halfway down your legs.

CHORUS

Oh It’s hard being a cowboy in Rochdale.
Spurs don’t fit right on me clogs.
Hard being a cowboy in Rochdale,
Cos people laugh when I ride past
On our Alsatian dog
