San Marino v England
Re: Penalty
I’m not sure it touched his hand. Looking the pattern on the ball it didn’t seem to deviate at all. There wasn’t much protest however.

San Marino v England
There aren't many foregone conclusions in international football, but this was always one.
0-3 already.

Re: Penalty
Complete joke.
I switched over as soon as that was given. Football isn't worth watching anymore.

What a waste of time. Thought giving a penalty was a bit harsh as well.

I get confused nowadays with all the rule changes. But is it now handball if it goes near a hand??? If that's the letter of the law then I think the letters are all in the wrong order

Re: San Marino v England
Wow! a shot on target by San Marino, Ramsdale having to work for the first time.
The only question is how many England will get.
The advantage for GS is he can blood a few of the youngsters, but lets be honest they've probably had harder training sessions than tonight will provide.

Such an obvious penalty. Surprised anyone can argue otherwise.

Re: San Marino v England
Another penalty
This one’s a bit more conclusive
Second hat trick in 2 games for Kane

First England player to score a hat trick in successive games since Dixie Dean apparently.
Re: San Marino v England
Ref missed a clear pen for San Marino when Mings clumsily wrestled their man from the corner

Re: Penalty
They've mangled the definition. Wouldn't and shouldn't have been a penalty in days gone by. The rule (or "law") needs changing back.
He clearly had no intention of handling the ball there. That's the important thing.

Wow! How great are we.?
Re: Penalty
Wasn't saying I agreed with the pen given ... just saying it was the letter of the law (stupid law but) and I stand by my statement, if we were 0-0 with 2 minutes to go and that was a Palace hand up in the air and the ball looked to have brushed his fingertips ... 99% of folk on here would be screaming Penalty ...
End of story

Re: Penalty
I don’t think that’s the important thing. He blocked a shot with his arm above his head. That’s been a penalty offence for donkey’s years. There’s a lot of silly parts of the laws, the ambiguous t-shirt line being one, but I don’t think players should be able to put their arms above their head and block shots, whether deliberately or not.

Mismatches like this really shouldn't be allowed in international football.

Re: San Marino v England
No disrespect to Kane, who is a fantastic finisher, but Charlton and Lineker didn’t score any of their international goals against a youth club team.

That got circular quickly Riley.
I've acknowledged it is technically a penalty under the current interpretation or laws.
However, it doesn't "block a shot"; it brushes past his hands as the ball whizzes past.
I believe we should be looking to reinstigate intent as the primary feature of handball.

Re: Penalty
The arm is above his head in an unnatural position. Whether intentional or not, putting your arm above your head like that is asking for trouble. It is a penalty.

If the tiny countries were showing any improvement then there would be an argument for their inclusion, but they are not.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 8:33 pmMismatches like this really shouldn't be allowed in international football.

Re: San Marino v England
Yes the commentators noticed that stupidity from Mings, he was fortunate not to concede a pen considering the ref isn't shy in awarding them.
And it's small details like this that worry me regarding England once the real challenges present themselves, if Mings was to do that in a WC game, and England conceded that might be the difference between progressing or not.

I've played with lads that look better for sure, always hard to tell but this reminds me of dads taking on a group of under 7 kids in a knockabout !

Nice to see Harry turn up against tin pot opposition again. I’m sure the Spurs fans will be delighted.

Some are the Faroe Islands for one, but the likes of Leichenstein & San Marino are simply cannon fodder.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 8:37 pmIf the tiny countries were showing any improvement then there would be an argument for their inclusion, but they are not.

Re: Penalty
Yep this "unnatural position" definition is rather weak and ambiguous. He's clearly trying to get his hand out of way too.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 8:36 pmThe arm is above his head in an unnatural position. Charlton got a hat trick in an 8-1 win against the USA, a hat trick in a 9-0 win against Luxembourg, a hat trick in an 8-0 win against Mexico, another 2 in a different game against Luxembourg and another goal in another match against USA this time in in an 8-0 win.minnieclaret wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 8:34 pmNo disrespect to Kane, who is a fantastic finisher, but Charlton and Lineker didn’t score any of their international goals against a youth club team.

I had a little chuckle at Ramsdale managing to get miles out of position, the fact he made a save probably covered up his panicking
