It’s a shame we let jimmy Dunne go. He’s having a good season at QPR

Id rather Collins stepped into replace Tarkowski, than spend anything on Holgate.

I wouldn't mind Holgate, with a view of eventually Holgate and Collins as replacements for Tarks and Mee. That said I feel we have far more pressing positions that need filling urgently.

According to some stats you've seen on Twitter earlier (because I saw them too).Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 3:38 pmStarted slowly but as of late has been very good.
He was so far out of his depth in the Premier League last season it was scary...but it's funny that a poor season really does cloud the memory of some. Why don't we get Boyd and Kightly back for our wide areas too?

To be fair it sounds like Dunne has done okay for QPR since getting a chance after one of their other defenders suffered an injury. I'm not saying we should have kept him but nice to hear that former players are doing well.Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 4:03 pmAccording to some stats you've seen on Twitter earlier (because I saw them too).

Bobby Thomas has impressed me the 2 or 3 times I've seen him far more than Dunne ever did.

If we're after another CB, I'd much rather us go for Nat Philips at Liverpool. Collins and Philips as a partnership next season would be a solid foundation.

Philips will have loads of options, not likely to join a team that is looking likely to be in the Championship

I'd take Davies from them, left footed CB, 25ish, local lad about 6 foot 3 and knows the championship inside out having been a good servant and captain for PNE.
Also surely can't command top whack having only signed for 3m and not played yet.

Phillips or Dickie with Mee and Collins would be great but Phillips is not very likely as he will have lots of options. We also need to look at releasing Kevin Long next summer and replacing him. I wouldn't be keen on Holgate.

It’s hard to keep up. Yesterday the squad isn’t good enough even for the top 6 of the Championship or let’s play loads of youth players. Today 2 signings and we’ll be fine.

Noticed Cook just gone to Notts Forest. Wonder if that opens up Worrall again?

Worrall would be a good signing but it’s not the position where we need to be spending any money we have!Red Fox Rocks Socks wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 5:54 pmNoticed Cook just gone to Notts Forest. Wonder if that opens up Worrall again?
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Why not, we've got 3 cb's at Burnley that are good enough to play each week, two of these have let their contracts run down so they can leave for free and pick up a bigger wage elsewhere in 6 month's time, this is exactly the position we need and will need at least two cb's in six month's time, it's time to bring in a new player for the future and play them with Collins and drop the player's that don't want to be here.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 6:22 pmWorrall would be a good signing but it’s not the position where we need to be spending any money we have!

Agree with Tarkowski running contract down still think Mee will sign a new one. If we have decided to let Tarkowski go this month then it needs to happen quickly.ClaretMov wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 6:31 pmWhy not, we've got 3 cb's at Burnley that are good enough to play each week, two of these have let their contracts run down so they can leave for free and pick up a bigger wage elsewhere in 6 month's time, this is exactly the position we need and will need at least two cb's in six month's time, it's time to bring in a new player for the future and play them with Collins and drop the player's that don't want to be here.
The more pressing area of strengthening is midfield, right wing as well as up top.

Not Burnley related I'm afraid, but Everton have snapped up Rangers and Scotland right back Nathan Patterson.

Highly rated this lad, and that's a great capture by the Toffees.

£11.5m plus add ons is a steal for Paterson. He’s been very good for rangers inEurope and Scotland. Can play Right back, wing back or right mid.tiger76 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 7:36 pmNot Burnley related I'm afraid, but Everton have snapped up Rangers and Scotland right back Nathan Patterson.

This is the type of player we should be after. Easily within our reach. But Blockhead Dyche doesn’t do progressive transfer activity.

Everton need a RB, we don’t.
2 on the books that never let us down and Roberts who’s yet to show us what he’s got.

I agree he's the type of player we should be after, however a few points, firstly RB isn't an area we need to recruit, as we're well served with Lowton and Roberts, who will surely become Lowton's long term replacement soon, and by all accounts we don't have a pot to p**s in right now.Shaggy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 7:41 pm£11.5m plus add ons is a steal for Paterson. Secondly I doubt he'd entertain the prospect of joining Burnley and the very real possibility of plying his trade in the Championship next year, and this is always going to be an issue for us in getting deals over the line, especially if bigger clubs are remotely interested.
Lastly it's not strictly true that Dyche doesn't do progressive transfer activity, as previous signings such as Gray & Keane, aptly demonstrates.
However you may have a valid argument that this kind of practise has died away in recent seasons.
And is it really necessary to insult our manager to make your point, whatever his faults he's presided over one of the most successful periods in the club's history, so he at the very least deserves treating with some respect even if you may not agree with his decisions.

Looks like Trips is a goer for Newcastle.
Bit disappointed, I was certain he would be back at Burnley some day.

Just spotted on Sky Sports Transfer Centre
" 'Ramsey rejects Burnley - but could come back'
Sky Italia transfer guru Gianluca di Marzio tells Sky Sports News:
"One of the other Juventus players, Aaron Ramsey, may come back to the Premier League. He had an official proposal from Burnley, but he said no.
"He wants to play for a more ambitious team, Newcastle have asked for him too before Christmas. We'll see whether anyone can sign him in January."
Although not the player we need but I'm impressed by the calibre of player being linked with. Also is this guy not on 400K per week at Juventus ?
I also think Mason Holgate would be a very good signing under Dyche.
