I like the sound of Orsic the player but other positions are needed more.
So if we missed out on him but got a CF and CM it would be better.

They seem to be delaying so he can play for them on Sunday against their nearest rivals in the tableRVclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 2:18 pmhttps://www.express.co.uk/sport/footbal ... slav-Orsic
This latest article suggests Dinamo digging their heals in re. Orsic.

Nketiah looks more likely for Toon.

Dinamo's 'Ultras' are probably a very influential group and the club will want to keep them onside by appearing to do everything they can to keep a popular Zagreb-born player
However, Orsic will not want to pass up either the chance of PL football or a PL salary - and whatever noises Dinamo are making I doubt they are in a financial position to turn down a reported £7/8M - especially if - as has been suggested in some reports - it will be paid in full up front
Assuming we are as keen as has been indicated we hold pretty much all the cards

I'm not convinced by that entirely given how many chances we have always given the opposition. Hopefully after the Arsenal result they have found their collective mojo. If I could give a single player a boost to his ability it would be Brownhill and his use of the ball. Can't knock the lads graft etc but he gives it away far too much at this level. I just sincerely wish he could add it to his game.....and a few more 30 yard top binners !!Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 3:47 pmThing is, when we are on it, those holes are just not there

I've added Barnes to my Dean Marney list of players that are way more effective than they appear on the pitch.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 3:13 pmI'd think that will all depend on his fitness levels and how, if given the chance, he finishes the season. We've really missed him and it would be brilliant to have the old Barnes back.
Statistically we are not that much different this season that in seasons past where we did much better; however, there are clearly 3 big differences: 1) the age of the centre mids 2) Jack Cork and others appearing on the yards covered chart 3) Barnes being an absolute nuisance and distraction for 90 minutes.
It's very hard to quantify how much it affects a team psychologically when you have two distractions with serious goal threat up front. The psychology of that probably shades the margins on winning and drawing and of course drawing and losing.
Sadly, I can't see him returning as he was for obvious reasons but he's been brilliant for the club

Thing is, if he turns up for a few games as the "Old Barnes" and we give him an extension, and we get the "useless Barnes" backClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 4:02 pmTotally agree, over two years now, but we've missed him, seriously missed him. I think its time to part ways tbh, and I'd only keep Lowts and Mee I think

To me it's always the fine line between being a really effective pain in the @rse for the opposing CBs, or just simply wanting to fight with them. His recent performances have been way too much of the latter.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 4:05 pmThing is, if he turns up for a few games as the "Old Barnes" and we give him an extension, and we get the "useless Barnes" back

BFC was the right club for Barnes and he proved to be a great buy. I think we have enabled him to play in the PL for an extended period-when fit his position was never challenged. Having seen him play this year its obvious to me the best days are now well behind him. You need a certain amount of pace in the PL to be effective and I think injuries have played their toll on him. He might still be a useful sub, if we are trying to hold on to a result with 10-15 minutes to go as he will go to the other end and get you a free kick and buy time. Think time for him to move on in June.He may still have two seasons in Championship (lower half) or League 1
