I was joking to be very clear….

I don’t think anyone has shown any disrespect to the women’s game. I have no interest in it at all, more power to those that do, but you cannot expect websites built to discuss Burnley FC (the men’s team) to automatically decide to follow the women’s game without someone devoting a lot of time and energy attending the matches etc.

My reasons for it were this…

1) it appeared to be a post that was directly questioning your editing of the UpTheClarets website, subtly hidden in a different thread, where you might not have seen it.

2) the content of the post appeared provocative with the intention of trying to start an argument.

3) the message completely ignored the your previously stated rationale and thus, appeared very disrespectful.

4) it questioned a moderator’s final decision and thus, broke board rules.

I make no apology for my actions.

If you look on that thread, that's where John first posted his response. It was that post that he removed, the one you accused me of removing and then, when I said it wasn't, led to you calling me a liar and all the rest.

You accused me of removing a thread that hadn’t been removed. You accused me of removing a post that I hadn’t removed. You called me a liar. You called me a bigot.

I’d think that was worthy of an apology.

Perhaps this thread will offer a small window of insight into the voluntary task of board moderating. Tony gets so much grief, as do the rest of the mods. It’s just so uncalled for.

A few months ago, I constructed a post about the ‘identity’ of our football team and how we’d like to see Burnley perceived moving forward.

It took quite a while to type out, yet within fifteen minutes the thread was removed. It was annoying but understandable, as deleting individual posts would have led to a very confusing thread chain. I never questioned that decision as I know when posting that this Dan happen.

There’s one poster who repeatedly accused me of deleting and editing over his posts and would not take my word for it. Sadly, this is what happens far too frequently.

The birth of other forms of social media has made moderating what appears like a very simple forum, far, far more difficult than it ever used to be.

Why do we seem to get this type of thread when schools are off?
