today's footy 27/12

Only a few fixtures today. but important ones none the less.

Sunderland gone 2nd in L1 after a convincing 3-0 success at troubled Donny. Could this finally be the year they escape the 3rd tier.

Derby-West Brom still 0-0. and ideally both Bournemouth and West Brom will record victories to increase the gap to Rovers.

West Brom have been poor for several weeks now, and they seem to have forgotten how to score goals, 5 in 9 games prior to this if my info is correct.

Great keeping by Sam Johnstone for the goal, and he gets selected in England squads.

Complete disaster mate. Cannot believe he left his box so unnecessarily.

On this showing WBA will be lucky to hit the play offs.
Must have the poorest strike force in the Division

The phrase that comes to mind is a rush of blood. Derby's only shot on target, and yet they lead.

Credit to the Rams supporters, nearly 25,000 there today.

Taken from the BBC's live text report...

"Had the world been different, Derby would now be 15th, with a handy seven point gap to the relegation zone, which wouldn't have been too bad given the restrictions manager Wayne Rooney is working under.

Unfortunately, their 21-point deduction means, even with victory here, they will still be seven points behind second-bottom Barnsley and 14 from a survival position."

Oh dear, never mind.

if WBA are fourth in the league it tells you the standard this season must be reasonably average

Derby take all 3 points, if they carry on in this vein they'll be playing The Great Escape theme at Pride Park soon, surely they can't, can they?

Yes and if the worst does come to worst, I'm fairly confident with a few shrewd additions, and keeping SD at the helm Burnley would bounce straight back at the 1st attempt.

Dunne starts for QPR, Austin & Gray on the bench.

Stanislas starts for Bournemouth, Brady on the bench.

Odd booking for QPR, then I noticed Keith Stroud had the whistle.

His 1st start since August, when he's fit and firing he's a handful in the Championship, the problem is how often is he fit and firing.

An assist for Stanislas to boot. :)

Going off their shocking away end, the floodlights probably don’t face down on an angle to get the entire pitch

Great header for the opener. Very much like Sam Vokes header against QPR to secure promotion.

QPR haven't played for a while and they look knackered no doubt we will be the same when we finally play again.

5 December when they lost at home to Stoke, and it must have an impact on match fitness.

Agreed.
And we know who's poised to replace them, if they continue their current form, don't we?

Unfortunately....

The Dell was a clear winner for worst ground in the first two tiers of English football and I would say LR is now the proud possessor of that distinction.

Bournemouth and Fulham look our best bet of denying Rovers an automatic spot. Important win for the Cherries that after 5 matches without a victory.

It was/is, but those seats upstairs in the away end had the narrowest space between rows I've ever sat in. Had to sit sideways as I recall.
That was a fair few years ago though, might have changed em by now.

It's dangerous upstairs at QPR - I'm amazed it gets a safety certificate
