Ironic with Derby bottom of their league but what a tremendous job he’s doing. Bringing a new kid through regularly and none of them look out of place.
Just said on comms that he wants to stay and repay their loyalty to him but somebody will be in for him soon.

He’s the last person I ever thought would be a manager, he’s not very intelligent and it comes across in his interviews.

Great player was world class at his peak, Hope he goes on to have a good management career.

I really admire the way he's gone about the job at Derby. He's quite the opposite of what I expected when he became their manager.

if you look at hat he achieved in his career he will command respect no matter which dressing room he walks in to. Doing a good job in very difficult circumstances

Football intelligence is a million miles from academic intelligence.

In Ice Hockey, they call it Hockey IQ. Rooney was definitely an intelligent player on the pitch, with plenty of Football IQ. Off the pitch he was as daft as the next man.

I can definitely see someone taking a punt on Rooney given how he's performed at Derby in incredibly difficult times.

I wouldn't want Rooney anywhere near us. There is always going to be some immature drama surrounding his personal life. That will never bode well for a manager who is expected to lead by example. Even without the points deduction they'd be 15th, which is probably lower than where you'd expect them to be given their squad compared to others in the league.

The irony about this "loyalty" is probably partly due to a guilt that he must have cost them an absolute fortune and is probably part of the inherent problem at Derby County.

He's probably learning and gaining more experience about management during his short time there than some other managers do elsewhere over longer periods of time.

I still think they'll get relegated, but ultimately this will be a very good base for him to start at.
His next job will be a piece of cake compared to this.

I rate him extremely highly, so what if he isn't the most wordy manager around. If He can communicate with his players and those that matter, then all well and good.

Not sure there are too many Derby fans on here :) but fair play to Rooney and his players.

Whilst they may will be the oldest CB partnership of all time, Jagielka and Davies are top-class pros and will be leaders on and off the pitch.

a team full of free transfers and kids, if you think their squad should be higher than 15th then you've not been paying proper attention. Take a look at the names he's playing.....

That comment shows a lack of football knowledge, they barely survived last season, lost Waghorn, Marriot, Malone, Wisdom and Ibe from that poor squad. They were stuck under transfer embargo and barely able to name 11 senior players until the EFL allowed them to bring in a few poor free transfers like 39 year old Jagielka.

They have overachieved significantly this season with alot of new kids having to be called up at times. Their squad is utter shite.

I'm a new user, Steve, and haven't registered before. I'm curious what makes you think I'm a former user on here. Is my question not a fair one? There is some serious fawning over Rooney going on here but I bet none of them would go as far as saying they'd have him here. Derby have nothing to lose because they're already relegated in all likelihood. Rooney's mettle would be tested when under some pressure. Maybe they're right and he'll get that chance, but I think his current situation of "doing well" flatters to deceive. I guess we will see.

Why on earth are you asking that? Just admit you hadn't done your research. Saying Rooney is doing a very good job (which he is) is completely different to saying we'd swap him for one of the best and most established managers we've ever had.

That Derby squad should be bottom of the league even without the points deduction. All credit to Rooney.

That's completely debatable. I think there are many issues at Derby which he can hide behind, and supporters last season (which I'd consider more 'normal' circumstances) weren't overly enamoured with him.

On your point regarding Derby should be bottom of the league without the points deduction, you're suggesting that Derby have a worse squad than the likes of Peterborough, Hull, Barnsley, Blackpool, and so on. Absolutely no chance do Derby have the worst squad in that league.

If we get relegated, and with people claiming he will get his chance at a better club in the Championship, perhaps Dyche's reign has simply run its course.

I'd respectfully disagree, their squad has been cobbled together using a lot of free transfers and kids.

Apologies Fretters. This reply was meant for Kazoo.

You have an intense dislike of Rooney but without the points deduction his team of kids and cast-offs would be on 28 points and fairly secure.
I wouldn’t have him tomorrow for SD but if his learning curve continues he is going to be a more than decent manager.
