Rangnick:
"Burnley is very direct, very physical and we need to have solutions against that, both on the ball and against the ball.”
“Yes but this is Premier League football," he added when asked if it will be harder against relegation-threatened Burnley.
"Most of the teams play like that, even when I watched the games [on Boxing Day I saw that], it is physical football. We need to take that on and be able to compete on that level.”

Is being “physical” a bad thing? It’s certainly portrayed as such.

Suggestions Pope is out, and a couple of other squad members missing.
Only a rumour but was told 5 youngsters were on standby, but you would expect that with the daily tests, and it could be a "just in case" type situation.

Pope out could be a blessing, he's not had the best of season's so far

Wow, he was a bit shaky at the beginning but the last few matches he has been back to himself and we would definitely be stronger with him between the posts.

He may provide the extra solidity in front of the back four that allows us to be a bit more adventurous going forward.

I doubt Dale Stephens will get within 25 yards of their goal, if he even gets on the pitch.

I know you're not a Brownhill fan, but jeez, we may aswell bring Dean Marney back if you think Dale Stephens is the answer.
The guy will probably get injured getting on the bus.
He is the definition of past it and legs have gone.
And to think some give Jack Cork a hard time...

I disagree he has been injured since he came to the club. If he’s fully fit now I say we give him a go. We know what he can do from his Brighton days.

I just don’t understand the hate Stephens gets. I still think he’s got a big part to play this season.
Let’s be honest it can’t get much worse in the centre of the park.

I just don’t understand how a lad with 100 premier league appearances has been dismissed by nearly our entire fan base after what 5 games whilst injured?

If we are seeing Stephens as some sort of saviour it shows just how weak the rest of our current central midfield is

In that case as we need goals, what's Bobby Zamora and Craig McKail-Smith up too?
Must try harder

Our midfield is beyond Awful ,so giving Stephens a run out will hardly do any harm . Though it’s pitiful that he represents our “ depth” hopefully a high end mid beckons in the window and we make do and hang in

We need something different in midfield. Quite whether that is Dale Stephens, just back from a lengthy lay off and older (just) than Cork and Westwood, I have my doubts.
If, as is often claimed, Cork’s legs have gone, i dread to think where Stephens legs are right now!!
Whether he does or doesn’t play, he deserves a fair crack of the whip though.

I agree, I think he needs a fair crack. At Brighton he was a good tackler and distributed the ball well.
We need our best technical players on the pitch and at the moment I think he can be considered one of our better technical players

Sorry but he's made mistakes in a lot more game than he hasn't by a long way but it's not you or me that picks the team.
Saying all that I hope he has his best Burnley game ever and proves me wrong and we take all 3 much needed points

We need a lot better than Cork, Westwood, Brownhill or Stephens in CM to survive this season. We must improve this area in January or risk facing the inevitable relegation. Also Pope is our best GK by far. Anybody suggesting he is dropped is crazy!

The chance of that head being exactly where the ball was landing (between NP's hands, admittedly) is very remote.
I still like him coming for crosses the way he does. The problem with punching is that we defend with so many players very deep that it's almost inevitable that the ball goes to the attacking team.
