Tony Loughlan

Post by colne-claret » Sun Jan 02, 2022 8:44 pm

Was he the brains behind our success? Gone downhill since he's left. Appreciate back end of last season wasn't great but still...appears as though he is missed.

It’s a good question… who knows how influential these folk are behind the scene.

Does make me wonder if Dyche needs some new support in a coaching capacity.

I put on another thread that I would be genuinely interested to know whether the departure of Loughlan has had a significant impact on the team. It could well be a coincidence as we weren't very good last season either.

Was he the brains behind the tactics? Was he good at communicating the opposition's strengths and weaknesses? Was his personality just a bit more friendly and warm than the current coaches?

I’ve heard the opposite from someone in the know.

He also was absent during the pre season of the 18/19 season, the season we had that terrible start

Not sure but Stone and Woan appear YES men to me, when you look at how players like Cork, JBG, Wood can start nearly every game. Surely they should contest it

He only had a hip replacement. No chance he could return?

At this stage, anybody that’s been part of successful past teams should surely be considered?

If it is true that he was the brains, then you would hope that SD would have recognised that Stone is not of the same calibre and brought someone else in to replace him.

I didn't hear great things about Steve Stone from a former colleague of his.

Had this thought earlier.

If he isn't binned he clearly needs help from somewhere

I just really hope that Dyche is looking inwardly at these things and asking himself questions.

Ultimately the players and himself will have big financial rewards staked on survival so if there’s absolutely anything that could help, be that bringing back an old face or someone new, you’d hope they’d be considering it.

Why? It's a genuine question. This season has been terrible and it's been a season where he has had no involvement. Look at Brian Clough and Peter Taylor. Complimented each other. That may have been the case here at Burnley.
