Scenario

Last game of the season Burnley v Newcastle, the game is 0-0 in the 90th min. The draw keeps us up and sends them down.

Newcastle get a free kick in the 93rd minute and up steps …… Kieran Trippier in front of the Cricket Field stand and puts the ball into the top corner past a helpless Nick Pope and runs to the away end and sparks wild celebrations.

Newcastle stay up and we go down.

Would you…..

A) Still love him because he’s claret and blue through and through and the best right back we have ever had and he would only ever come back to the Prem to play for Burnley.

Or

B) Hate him forever

Hate him forever because of what you put in the latter part of A.

Then a couple of days later forgive the lad for doing what he gets paid for.

If we lose at home to Newcastle we deserve to be relegated. So still love him.

You forgot C) he scores but doesn't celebrate out of respect for the club, same as a number of players do in football.

Good player for us but once he left never really bothered about him ...don't get all this with former players

There is no respect and loyalty left in football anymore.

If you think for one second he wouldn’t celebrate in these circumstances your deluded, it would be a disrespect to Newcastle if he didn’t. I wouldn’t be bothered if he did it’s his job.

He has respect for Dyche and Burnley, that's always been clear.

He would have a muted celebration, I'm not deluded because it's seen regularly when a player scores against a former club, apart from Adebayor Vs Arsenal after they'd been singing about his mum

What about Welbeck who scored the winner for Arsenal against Man Utd, the team he supports and the team he played for since he was 11 years old, he celebrated like mad.

Neither, he’s a footballer doing his job. Overly sentimental about a bloke whose contract meant he could leave us for £3mil if we went down.

You would have to be a massive bellend to hate a former player for doing their job, unless they were sticking two fingers up at the home fans while laughing their ballcocks off.
